The baby’s mouth should cover the whole areola instead of just suckling on the tip of the nipple. Change positions and sit in a comfortable way, or lie down in a comfortable position that provides proper latching. Air dry the nipples after feeding as this will help provide faster healing.


Cool Compress

Apply a cool compress to the nipples before breastfeeding as it help reduce the pain due to soreness. For this purpose, wrap a few ice cubes in a clean cloth and place it on the affected region for just a few minutes. This should be ideally done at least thrice a day, or every time before a breastfeeding session.


Warm Compress

A very useful natural treatment that many women prefer is the application of a warm compress on the sore nipples. Using a warm compress can help reduce the soreness in the nipples and is very soothing for breastfeeding mothers.

You can even apply some lanolin on the warm cloth and then use it as a compress as it helps heal the sore nipples effectively.


Aloe Vera Gel
