Burdock Root

The joint pain can be cured by the increase in the intake of essential fatty acids. The root of the burdock contains fatty oils like sterols and tannis and this herb is anti-inflammatory properties. These properties of this root help to cure the problem of arthritis.

You can take this herb by making a decoction, capsule or as a stir-fries.You can also use either fresh or dried root of this herb. But the dosage should be only as recommended as it should be in lesser quantity for younger and slim people.


Flax-seed

The flax-seed is one of the best components of Omega 3 fatty acids which help to increase the strength of the immune system. These seeds help to fight with the inflammation of the joints. You can take flax-seed by adding them in the flour you eat. These seeds should not be heated or cooked as they lose their significance while heating it. Alternately you can use flax-seed oil in your cooking.


Nettles

Nettles contain protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, beta-carotene and some important vitamins like A, C, D, and B complex which the body needs to perform all the functions normally. It gives you strong bones. It can be taken in the form of tea or herbal supplements. The tea should be taken regularly to get rid of the problem of inflammation and pain in the joints.


Turmeric

Turmeric is the oldest herb to heal inflammation of any body part and it also kills the pain. It contains two essential compounds known as cur cumin and curcuminoids which help to decrease the inflammation in the same way as the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs do. You can take this herb by adding the turmeric powder in your food and milk. It is also available in the form of supplements and topical applications.


Licorice

The two main constituents of this herb are corticosteroids and glycyrrhizin which inhibits the growth of the enzyme responsible for the inflammation. The cortisal in the body is balanced with the help of this herb, giving you immediate relief from joint pain. The licorice can be taken in the form of tea or capsules. However this herb is not recommended for the patients of heart and kidney problems.


Alfalfa

Alfalfa contains canavanine, an amino acid and some essential minerals. These components help to heal the joint pain. This herb should be taken in the form of tea rather than the alfalfa powder. After taking this herb for a period of 15-20 days give a break of equal days.


Angelica (Angelica archangelica)

This herb is used in European folk medicine initially. It contains 12 anti-inflammatory compounds, ten antispasmodic constituents and five anodyne components that will cure all types of arthritis and joint pain. The tea made from this herb is very effective if taken regularly for a period of at least 15 days.


Black Cohosh

Black cohosh herb consists of some aspirin like substance and it has anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties which fights with the problem of arthritis. This herb can be taken in the form of dried powder, tea or supplements in the form of tablets or capsules.


Boswellia

Boswellia herb has the anti-inflammatory properties like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have but it overcomes the problem of the side effect of NSAIDs of irritation and chances of stomach ulcers. This herb can be taken in the form of supplements of capsule or dried powder or as a decoction.


Celery

The Europeans were the first ones to use celery seeds for the treatment of arthritis. It has very effective anti-inflammatory compounds like pinene, cymene, caryophyllene, santalol, dihydrocarvone, apigenin and isoquerticin.This herb can be taken in the form of cooked celery seeds, tea or soup or as an extract. This herb is a rich source of potassium as in some people the deficiency of potassium leads to the problem of arthritis.


Chaparral

Chaparral is widely available in many health stores for the treatment of arthritis. This is a toxic herb so it is not recommended for internal use. Instead you can use this herb as a tincture or gel to be used topically.


Epsom Salt

Epsom salt is the main source of magnesium and it has both anti-inflammatory and anti- arthritic properties. This salt gets absorbed into the skin so rapidly and it gives immediate relief from the joint pains. The Epsom salts can be taken in the form of normal salt or you can take a hot bath in the water containing Epsom salt. The heat generated while taking a hot bath helps to increase the blood circulation and decrease the inflammation of the joints.
