Spices are an important part of every cuisine. No food is complete without spices. They may be added in a big or little quantity. But here we are going to discuss spices which we can grow in our home and can be used later in food, tea and pickles.

1. Ginger:
Ginger is the fleshy, underground stem of a perennial plant called Zingiber officinale. People make its use popularly in curries, in confectionery and baked goods. They also use it in herbal teas as it has a strong medicinal value. This spice is a medicine for nausea and is also a natural anti-inflammatory with blood-thinning compounds that can lower bad cholesterol (LDL).It contains an active compound called gingerol, which helps in stimulating blood flow and relaxes the blood vessels, lowering the blood pressure. 3. Coriander:
Sometimes coriander is called Cilantro. The leaves of Coriander are extensively used in Chinese, Mexican and Indian cuisines. The spice is the dried seeds of the same plant, but they taste differently. Coriander seeds and leaves are beneficial for the heart since they contains natural antioxidants and anti platelet compounds. 4. Cumin:
Cumin is one of the most popular spices all over the world. Most of the food recepies involve cumin as a part. You can grow it very easily in your kitchen garden.
5. Garlic:
Garlic can be grown very easily indoors and outdoors too. You should only separate the cloves and stick them into moist and well-draining soil. Garlic is the king of heart-healthy herbs. This highly beneficial herb has numerous anti-inflammatory, anti platelet, and antithrombotic compounds. The consumption of garlic is good for many ailments like gastric trouble and it also benefits the heart.
It can be used for lowering bad cholesterol (LDL) levels, lowering the hypertension levels, and increasing the platelet aggregation. Once a person tries to grow it and after growing, consuming it; he will become a regular user of Saffron. Growing saffron indoors is a better option as Crocus bulbs are prone to rotting in wet weather. They need to be protected in that season.
8. Paprika:
This spice is a dried and powdered form of skin of mild chilli peppers. Though the bell peppers or capsicum that we use as vegetables are not perfect for making paprika as they are too fleshy. So, a person can grow his own supply of thin-skinned peppers at home and make his own paprika.
9. Fennel:
Fennel is an amazing spice with sweet taste. A person can grow it at home if he has plenty of space aside because the plants usually grow very tall and large. The seeds of fennel are used in the preparation of many dishes as well as in tea by many people.
10. Mustard:
Mustard is a great spice to grow at home as a person can make his own mustard sauces with it and can obtain mustard oil from its seeds. And most importantly, the plant of mustard can be grown from its seedswhich is a very easy process.
11. Cardamom:
The Spice which is an important part of tea. Cardamom is well-known for helping people with stomach problems such as indigestion, upset stomach and many more. It can also lower the blood pressure. Cardamom has powerful antioxidant compounds which help to fight the damage which free radicals can cause to the heart and other tissues of the body.
12 . Cinnamon:
This common spice is a cure for many ailments like indigestion, Eczema, heart diseases, increased blood pressure, bad (LDL) cholesterol and many more. Cinnamon can inhibit the release of the fatty acids that cause inflammation of platelet membranes in the blood. This can help to keep the blood at a proper thickness, which can lower blood pressure. Cinnamon also helps to lower the triglycerides in the blood. Some people drink tea with adding cinnamon powder to it.
13. Fenugreek Seeds:
This herb as well as spice is not as popular or as common as some of the other s but fenugreek has some powerful cardio-protective benefits due to its high level of antioxidants. There are numerous compounds in fenugreek that can help in clearing up of clogged arteries, lowering the blood pressure, reducing the cholesterol and preventing the heart diseases.
To make use of these seeds, soak one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in one cup of water overnight. In the morning, strain out the seeds and eat them or its water can be also be taken on an empty stomach. This can be done every day for best results.
