Tired eyes are usually caused due to straining the eyes continuously without giving it a rest. Normally people have tired eyes at the end of the day or before sleep. Tired eyes are usually caused due to dryness. Normally people blink 12 to 15 times per minute, which naturally lubricates the eyes. As the eyes grow tired the blink rate reduces which causes the eyes to grow dry and causes itchiness.
Tired eyes are usually caused due to lack of sleep, working for a long time in front of the computer, reading or watching TV for a long time, allergy, etc. If you are working in front of a computer, take small breaks as and when possible. Do not stare at the computer or TV screen continuously and try looking at a distant object for some time. Try blinking frequently and relax your eyes when possible. These steps help relax your eyes and prevent your eyes from getting tired. Symptoms of tired eyes include redness, itching, watery eyes, double vision, headache, dark circles etc. Usually tired eyes are resolved by sufficient sleep. But in cases where sleep may not be possible, the following home remedies may come in handy.
