5 Herbs For Angular Cheilitis

Angular cheilitis is the inflammation of the corners of the mouth. Angular cheilitis can take place at one or both the corners of the mouth. It is caused by a bacteria or fungus or by both.

Deep and bleeding cracks at the corners of the mouth, redness, swelling, bleeding sores or even ulcers are some of the main symptoms. Other than these, you will experience pain while eating food, talking and some itching sensation. You can get rid of angular cheilitis by using some herbs.


Herbs For Angular Cheilitis

Goldenseal

Take a dried herb in a cup of warm water. Boil it and then allow it to steep well for 10-15 minutes. After that strain it properly and let it cool and come down to room temperature.

Then soak a cotton cloth or cotton ball in the tea and apply it on the affected area. Do this 2-3 times every day as this herb is very effective in killing the bacteria that causes the infection and thus helps to get rid of angular cheilitis.


Chamomile

Take some water, heat it well and then add some chamomile flowers to it. allow it to boil for some time and then when it cools down, use a cotton ball and apply this solution on the affected areas. You can also apply some wet tea bags directly on the affected areas.

Other than this you can also add the tea or few drops of chamomile oil (5-6) in your bath water and have a shower with it. Chamomile helps to heal the affected skin fast and get rid of angular cheilitis.


Garlic

Take some garlic in a blender, blend well and take out the juice. Then apply it on the affected areas using some cotton balls. Massage well and then let it be like that for some time.

Do this 3-4 times every day. Taking raw garlic, cutting it into small pieces, then applying it directly on the affected area and massaging well is also a very effective herbal remedy for angular cheilitis.


Slippery Elm Bark

Slippery elm bark is very effective in preventing angular cheilitis. Take some slippery elm bark in a cup of water. Heat it for some time and then allow it to boil for 30 minutes. Then let it cool down to room temperature. Use some cotton balls and apply this solution on the affected areas.

Do this 2-3 times every day. You can also crush the bark of the dried herb to fine powder, then add some water to this powder and apply it on the affected area.


Aloe Vera

Take some pieces of aloe vera and rub them well over the affected area. You should do this 3-4 times every day. You can also apply aloe vera gel directly on the affected area using some cotton balls or add few drops of aloe vera gel to a cup of water, soak some cotton balls in the solution and then apply it on the affected area.

Massage gently for 10-15 minutes and do this at least 3 times every day. Aloe vera will give a soothing effect by reducing the inflammation and thus will help to get rid of angular cheilitis.

Thus by using the above mentioned herbs you can get rid of angular cheilitis.
