ADHD or attention deficit hyperactive disorder is a behavioral disorder which occurs as a result of an imbalance between certain chemicals in the brain. This disorder affects both children and adults. It is characterized by insomnia, impulsiveness, anxiety, decreased attention and concentration spans.

Gingko Biloba

This herb is a native of China and is known for its medicinal properties since 2800BC. The herb enhances the blood circulation and is an excellent antioxidant.

The extract obtained from leaf of this plant is used for treating ailments pertaining to central nervous system. According to a research, it has proven effective in increasing attention span and reducing hyperactivity. In addition, it has lesser side effects.


Skullcap

This is also known as scutelleria laterifora, a beneficial herb in relieving insomnia, anxiety, depression and exhaustion often associated with ADHD.

Roots and aerial parts are used to tone up the nervous system. To achieve its benefits, one can consume it as herbal tea. It also helps in improving the functions of the brain.


Chamomile

Chamomile is an excellent remedy to soothe and relax the body. It is very safe and can also be used on children without any fear.

Boil a few, dried or fresh flowers of chamomile in water for about 40 minutes and then strain the water. Consume 2 cups of this strained water in a day to alleviate anxiety and hyperactive behavior.


Brahmi

Brahmi has been known as an important herb in Ayurveda for its multiple benefits. Brahmi can enhance memory and concentration power in people suffering from ADHD by maintaining the required balance between two important brain chemicals, glutamate and gamma amino-butyric acid. In addition, it acts as a toner for the nervous system.


Catnip

Catnip is another name for Neepta Cataria is an imperishable mint which helps in easing indigestion, congestion, restlessness, tension and hyperactivity.

Drink a cup of tea prepared by pouring boiling water on one teaspoon of dried catnip or three teaspoons of fresh catnip leaves. To this preparation, you can also add a few drops of honey to enhance its flavor. Catnip should be avoided if a lady is pregnant or suffering from menstrual disorders.


Siberian Ginseng

This herb is a natural brain stimulant that helps boosting your concentration and memory power. The herb enhances the blood flow to the brain and also helps to deal with stressful conditions. Apart from this, some studies have revealed that it controls the release of energy from the body and thus alleviates hyperactive behavior.


Lemon Balm
