Vaporizers
Vaporizers are good as when you have a cold your nasal blocks are blocked that makes breathing difficult. It can also help to reduce the runny flow from your nose. You can take a few pieces of vaporizers that are available in any chemist’s shop. Put these pieces in a bowl of steaming water and cover your face with a cloth. Breathe in the vapors and stay for a few seconds in that position. You will feel relaxed after that. You can also inhale the vapors of smashed thymol seeds or eucalyptus oil. You canalso use saline nasal sprays to clear your nose.
Fruits Rich in Vitamin C
Cold and flu are also caused due to the deficiency of Vitamin C. So you need to eat fruits that are rich in vitamin C to fight the viruses. You can take fruits such as lemons, grapes, guavas, amla and sweet lime.
Ginger
Ginger is good for treating a runny nose. You can prepare ginger tea or ginger powder. For preparing ginger tea you need to cut a few pieces of ginger and boil it in water before you boil the tea leaves. Prepare the tea as usual and take it. You can also add clove, bay leaf and black pepper with ginger to prepare tea. Do not add tea leaves in this mixture. You can also mix ginger powder mixed with good old Jaggery and take it twice in a day. You can also prepare a herbal tonic by cutting pieces of ginger and boiling it in a cup of water. Then add half lemon juice with a spoon of honey. Drink this tonic twice in a day.
Sesame Seeds
You can roast sesame seeds in clarified butter or ghee and add Jaggery. It will help in treating your running nose and also reduce itching. A related remedy would be to eat raw garlic.
Ajwain, Castor Oil, Aniseed (saunf), Asafetida (hing) Remedies
You can boil Ajwain or Carom Leaf in watr and add honey to it. Drink this liquid throughout the day. Apply a few drops of castor oil in your nose to open the blocked passages. Aniseed or Saunf can be boiled with cloves in water for 15 minutes. Take this after adding sugar. You can inhale the fresh aroma of Asafetida or Hing to stop a runny nose.
