Effective Herbal Remedies for Allergies

Allergy breakout is common among humans though the reason for the breakout can differ. The most common cause for allergy can be as simple as a body reaction to pollen or dust or a food particle but the treatment always vary from person to person. Treating allergies is difficult but not impossible.

In most cases the breakouts can be effectively treated with prescribed medications or herbs that are readily found in herbal stores across the world.


Herbal Remedies for Allergies

Before one can pick and choose an herb for their allergy breakout, one must consider and understand the cause and symptoms associated with the allergy breakout.

Nettle

If your list of reaction consists of skin rashes then it can be effectively treated with nettle extracts. Also, one can make herbal tea using dried herbs that is easily found in stores. Steep these leaves into boiling water to make a hot cup of tea that can treat such skin rashes and irritations. But one must understand that it is a blood thinning compound, one must consult a doctor before consuming the nettle extracts.


Biminne

One of the popular Chinese herbs for allergies, biminne is effective in treating allergic rhinitis. But one must not use it for long term without consulting a doctor as it can interact with other medications.


Angelica

Another Chinese herb that can treat an outbreak of allergy is angelica. Known to enhance the immune system of the individual, angelica can be orally had raw and this can instantly reduce the production of elements that is causing the outbreak of symptoms including runny nose, sneezing, and watery eyes.


Butterbur

Botanically called Petasites hybridus, butterbur is an effective herbal remedy that eliminates allergies instantly. The effectiveness is attributed to petasins, one of the main compounds contained in the leaves of the plant. One can consume raw butterbur herbs to treat allergy breakouts or one can also opt to take butterbur powder supplements and capsules.


Chinese Skullcap

Also known as Scutellaria baicalensis, this is again a Chinese herb that effectively reduces allergy symptoms ranging from chest congestion and nausea. Once the herb is ingested it blocks production of leukotrienes, which is mainly responsible for allergy breakouts.


Black Pepper

When an allergy breakout affects the respiratory tract and the nasal passage, then one can also take out pepper from their kitchen cabinets and make an allergy treatment mixture. To make the mixture, one can use crushed black pepper with honey. Regular ingestion of this mixture can treat allergy symptoms ranging from difficulty in breathing.


Ginkgo Biloba

When there is an allergy breakout, the one aspect of the individual that greatly gets affected is the brain. To reduce such reactions, one can have gingko supplements that can instantly eliminate such conditions and improves brain functionality. Though effective, gingko is known to be very effective in treating allergy breakout that is triggered by pollens.


Horseradish

Nasal congestion is one of the common symptoms of allergy breakouts and can be treated with a number of herbs such as horseradish. One can make a horseradish nasal drop to treat allergy symptoms.


Evening Primrose

Skin rashes and hives, few of the common symptoms of allergy, can be removed through evening primrose oil. Known to feature omega-6 fatty acids, the oil protects skin against inflammation. One can either ingest an evening primrose capsule or use the oil for massage.


Eucalyptus

Used to treat a number of health disorders such as cold, cough, and sore throats, eucalyptus tree leaves can also be used to treat allergies. One can also use freshly extracted eucalyptus oil to treat allergy symptoms such as cough, cold, and runny nose. Alternatively, one can also brew the herb leaves with hot boiling water and strain and use this herbal tea on a regular basis till the allergy symptoms vanish. If the cough and cold persist then mix the oil with boiling water and inhale the vapors to eliminate nasal congestion.


Cayenne Pepper

We all use cayenne pepper in our kitchens to season our food; but we all do not know that it can also treat allergy breakouts leading to mucous accumulation. To get rid of such symptoms of allergies, one can easily treat it by using a mixture of cayenne pepper, lime, and hot water to gargle regularly. Done on a regular basis, it can alleviate symptoms of allergies.


Licorice

If an allergy breakout usually means respiratory problems, then licorice is one of the most effective herbs that not only protects the respiratory tract but also treats cough and nasal congestion problems.


Feverfew

The leaves of the herb when consumed can relieve the individual from allergic reactions such as dizziness and nausea. If feverfew is not one of the plants that is readily available around then opt to purchase herb supplements or capsules from your nearest herbal store.


Fenugreek

We all use fenugreek in out kitchens and we all know that it cab help in digestion and remove any stomach congestion. So, the next time you suffer from any one of such symptoms then one can pluck a few leaves from the fenugreek plant and chew on it instantly. This removes the mucous accumulation from the respiratory tract which further helps in the breathing process.


Anise

A number of people complain of chest tightness if and when there is an allergy breakout. To remove such allergen reaction one can treat it with anise seed extracts which eliminates mucous buildup.


Slippery Elm

Allergy symptoms such as sinus and nasal congestion can be treated with a number of herbs including slipper elm powder that instantly soothes the throat.


Ginger

Another kitchen herb that is also antimicrobial, which treats skin inflammation and also gets rid of skin germs that can trigger allergy symptoms.


Arum Triphyllum

If nasal congestion is accompanied by nose bleeding then one can treat such allergy symptoms with herb called Arum Triphyllum. One of the rarest herbs, it is known to instantly reduce nasal discharge that effectively also deals with the bleeding problems. Apart from nose bleeding, there are other allergy symptoms such as nose scabs, throat swelling, and parching skin that can also be treated with Arum Triphyllum herbal extracts.
