Effective Home Remedies For Cold

Having cold is the most irritable feeling which also can cause body ache, fever, flu and dizziness. This makes you feel congestion and also can lead to throat pain. There are many home remedies which can help get rid of this situation very easily.

Although there is no proven tactic which can help prevent from common cold, but these home remedies are very effective to an extent in fighting against cold.


Best Home Remedies For Cold

Almond Oil

In case of running nose just put few drops of almond oil in nostrils. This home remedy is also applicable for kids. This will help from running nose and also help in sleeping well.


Lukewarm Water

During this period, drink a lot of lukewarm water instead of normal water. If possible you can also sip the hot water twice a day. Drinking a lot of water is very helpful during cold. This will provide relief from cold, sneezing and running nose. Lukewarm water also helps in removing congestion.


Gargle

The patient, during cold also suffers from sore throat and pain. To overcome this, take warm water and add a pinch of salt in it and gargle with this water. Repeat this three times a day. This will soothe in sore throat and also provide relief from pain.


Tea

Drinking tea and coffee will provide relief during cold and flu. You can add few leaves of tulsi, crushed ginger and a pinch of black pepper in tea. This will provide relief during cold and sore throat. In coffee, a pinch of cinnamon powder can be added which will be very helpful as well.


Steam

Steam inhalation is also very helpful in cold. If it is possible, intake steam four to five times a day. This will help in removing congestion and also makes you feel better. If needed, nebulization can be done to kids which will help them breathe well during cold.


Vitamin C

Vitamin C is very helpful in cold and flu. Take lemon juice and add honey in it. This is a very good home remedy for cold that will provide relief from sore throat and vitamin C will help in recovery from cold very soon. You can also take vitamin C rich fruits to increase appetite during cold. This will surely shortens the duration of cold and also increase immunity to fight against cold.


Eucalyptus Oil

If you are working and need to go to office during cold and flu then add few drops of eucalyptus oil in your handkerchief and inhale it frequently. This will provide relief from running nose and make you feel better.


Ginger

Make a paste of ginger juice, clove powder and a pinch of salt. This paste is very good for cold. Take half spoon of this paste twice a day to get immediate relief from cold and flu.


Pepper

Pepper is very good in running nose and sneezing. Take a glass of warm water and take half spoon of pepper. Take this twice a day. This home remedy is very good for cold.


Turmeric

Turmeric is a natural antibiotic. Before going to bed, drink a glass of hot milk with a spoon of turmeric. This is very good in provide relief from cold and also increase immunity to fight against cold.


Garlic

Garlic also helps in fighting against cold, intake garlic in any form daily to get immediate relief. Intake of garlic also helps in building immunity which help fighting against common cold.


Aniseed

Boil aniseed, cloves, tulsi leaves and a small piece of grated ginger in water for about 15 minutes. This water is a very good home remedy for curing cold. This water can also be given to kids to get them relief from cold and flu. Drink this water five to six times in a day and will see the amazing result.


Sesame Seeds

Roast some of the sesame seeds in ghee and mix them in jaggery. Intake this mixture every day for feeling better in cold and flu. Sesame seeds can be easily available in the department store.


Rest

Taking a rest is also very important in cold. Whenever possible, just lie down on bed with your blanket. This will make you feel better and also helps in increasing immunity of your body to get relief from cold and flu.


Nasal sprays

There are many nasal sprays available in market which provides very fast relief from blocked nose. Keep these sprays handy when going out from house. This will provide relief and can help you concentrate on your work.


Cinnamon

A pinch of cinnamon powder with honey is a very good mixture to cure cold and flu. Consume this paste very frequently in a day and can see change in your condition. You can add cinnamon in your cup of hot coffee.


Soups

Hot chicken soup provides a soothing feel to the person suffering from cold. This can be given to the children as well. If you are vegetarian, then tomato soup will also work equally. But remember to sip the hot soup. You can add a pinch of black pepper and butter to the soup.


Mullein Tea

Mullein tea is very good in relieving from chest pain and congestion. Take some mullein herbs in strainer and steam it in the hot cup of tea. Honey can also be added instead of sugar. This cup of healthy tea will be very effective and helpful in cold and flu. This herb can be got from any department store where herbs are available.


Neti pot

Neti pot is also a good home remedy for the cold, but it should not be done with the kids below 4 years. In neti pot, mild saline solution is flushed through nasal passages. This help in removing the mucus and help in breathing well. This process is not painful, but gives a strange feeling for the first time that’s why it is not suitable for small toddlers.

These are the home remedies which will help a lot in curing and providing relief from cold and flu. These home remedies are very effective and also helps in shorten the time of cold.
