Effective Home Remedies For Jaundice

Jaundice is a liver disease in which the skin and the white portion of the eye become yellow. The deposition of bilirubin imparts yellow color to skin and eyes. The liver and kidney eliminates the bilirubin from the blood. The liver fails to eliminate bilirubin when there is malfunctioning of liver.

Jaundice can be due to pancreatic disease, hepatitis, anemia and bile duct blockage. It can also be due to excess intake of alcohol. Patients who have jaundice suffer from weakness, loss of appetite, gas and fever. The patient has nausea and headache. There is dull stomach pain above the liver. Home remedies are very useful in curing jaundice. You must try the following home remedies for jaundice.


Useful Home Remedies For Jaundice


Turmeric Powder

Add one pinch turmeric powder to one glass water. The water should be hot. Drink this solution two to three times daily. You can also mix turmeric powder in curd and eat it once daily. Turmeric increases bile production by the liver. It helps in eliminating the bile through the gallbladder. Turmeric makes the liver strong. Turmeric shrinks the swollen and enlarged hepatic ducts, which helps in treating jaundice.


Beetroot Juice

Add some lemon juice to beetroot juice and drink it. You can also add carrot juice and cucumber juice to the beetroot juice. Drink beetroot juice daily. You should always mix the beetroot juice with some other juice. If you take pure beetroot juice without mixing any other juice, it will have a negative effect on the body.

Beetroot juice contains many essential nutrients that remove weakness and rejuvenate the body. Beetroot juice helps in cleansing the liver and kidneys, thus providing relief in jaundice. If you have diabetes, you should not take beetroot juice.


Buttermilk

Mix black pepper in buttermilk and drink it for one week. You can also add one pinch of powder of banyan tree bark to the buttermilk and drink it. Buttermilk helps in increasing appetite and digestion in patients who have jaundice.


Banana

Mix mashed banana with little honey and take it twice daily. Banana contains potassium and electrolytes, which are very good for jaundice.

Honey detoxifies the body. It also eliminates bacteria from the body by flushing out toxins.


Bittergourd Juice

Drink bitter gourd juice. Extract juice from fresh bittergourd. You can take 2 teaspoon of bittergourd juice two times daily. This juice will help in fading the yellow color of skin and eyes.


Lemon Juice

Drink lemon juice as it helps in detoxification. It also helps in the removal of toxins and bilirubin from the body. You can mix lemon juice in warm water and drink it when you wake up at morning.


Papaya Paste

Mix half teaspoon of papaya paste with little honey and eat this. You can also eat half teaspoon of papaya leaf paste.

Mix little honey to the paste before eating it. Eat the paste with water.


Sugarcane Juice

Drinking sugarcane juice is one of the best home remedies for jaundice. Take the sugarcane juice two times daily. You can mix little lemon juice with sugarcane juice. Ensure that the sugarcane juice is pure and extracted in hygienic conditions. You must drink the juice fresh. Sugarcane juice should not be stored. You can also eat, chew, bite and suck the sugarcane directly.


Lemon

Make lemon leaf concoction by boiling water with lemon leaves. Cover the vessel with a lid and drink after five minutes. Take this liquid for five days.

Drinking lime juice is also beneficial in jaundice. Take juice of ginger, mint and lemon. You can take these juices separately or mix them together.


Radish

Take radish juice or radish leaf juice twice daily. Adults can drink half-liter radish leaf juice for one week daily. You can also eat fresh radish in the morning time. Radish juice helps in increasing the appetite. When there is improvement in the appetite, the patient eats properly. This results in good bowel movements, which helps in eliminating bilirubin.


Iron And Calcium

Take foods that contain Iron and calcium as these foods help in curing jaundice. Some foods that contain Iron are pumpkin seeds, cashew nuts, almonds, beans, pulses, pine nuts, hazelnuts, whole grains, spinach, dark chocolate, peanuts, fortified cereals, tofu and many others.

Some foods that contain calcium are milk, yogurt, tofu, buttermilk, cheese, spinach, sesame seeds, flax seeds, green leafy vegetables, mustard greens and many others.


Tomato Juice

Drink tomato juice on empty stomach when you wake up at morning. The juice should be fresh. You can mix salt and little pepper in the juice.

You can extract tomato juice by blending tomatoes in a blender. Tomato juice purifies the blood, improves appetite and helps in eliminating the yellow color of skin and eyes.


Carrot Juice

Drink carrot juice. Carrot contains many essential nutrients, which are very good for health.

When you extract juice from carrot, do not peel the skin. Instead of peeling, clean the carrots with stiff brush. If you peel and wash carrots with water, the nutrients in carrots are lost.
