Ringworm is a medical condition in which the skin becomes red and itchy.The term ringworm does not mean that it is caused by parasitic worms as it is caused by fungal infections. A material known as Keratin which is found in the outer layer of the skin, hair and nails acts as a feed for fungal infections. The chances of survival of Keratin depends upon skin condition as it can stay longer on warm, moist skin and hair shafts also.

This disease is more common among children than adults. This is a transferable disease and can be transferred from animals to humans. The treatment options available for this problem ranges from various over the counter creams, prescribed medicine or laser treatment but the herbal cure is one of the safest solutions for the healing of ringworm patches on the skin.
Tea tree oil helps to give relief from scaling, inflammation and itchiness in the patches. The tea tree oil can be used in the form of a cream having 8-20% tea tree oil, liquid extract having 40% tea tree oil and the topical gels of tea tree oil can be applied directly on the affected area twice or thrice a day for a period of 10-15 days for the cure of ringworm.
Garlic is one of the best herbal remedy that is used for the cure of several diseases. It is antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal and kills the fungi cells as soon as they attack on the skin. It can be used in the form of capsules or as a topical cream. The raw garlic can be crushed and its immediate application on the affected area for 10 to 15 days will heal the patch.
Oregano oil has antifungal properties. Put five drops of oregano oil under your tongue. You can also take it by adding it in a glass of water if you don’t like the taste.
However this oil is not recommended for the people allergic to mint plants. The dosage should be in small quantity as large doses may lead to nausea and blocks the absorption of iron in the body.
Echinacea contains polysaccharide, polyacetylenes and essential oils that help to fight the fungal infections. This herb can be taken in the form of tea. Compresses and poultices can also be used for external applications. This herb is not recommended for pregnant and nursing women.
