The term acne is the scientific name of the normally used words like pimples, blackheads, whiteheads or nodules on the face, back or shoulders. A blemish which is red in color occurs on the face that is known as acne.

When acne takes a dark color with an opening in it then they are called as blackheads. On the other hand whiteheads are the spots that look like a hump and have no opening in it. When whiteheads burst then they become pimples. Nodules look like the lumps like a boil.

We have lot of home remedies for the treatment of acne and we keep on applying them also but we are less bothered to hear about the herbal remedies that will help to cure the acne with no harm.

The conventional medicines help to heal the symptoms of the disease while herbal medicines resolve the causes that are underlying the disease. There are several herbs available for the treatments of acne .

These herbs are available in the form of extracts, tincture or as one of the ingredient in herbal medicine. The benefit of using herbal medicine is that they have lesser side effects in comparison to the conventional treatment of acne. Some of the commonly used herbs that will help you to get a clear skin and cure acne are:

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has very good healing and soothing properties. Some people think that this herb is useful for skin tanning and small abrasions only but this is not true this is equally good for the treatment of acne as well.

What you need to do is take a stick of aloe vera and apply the gel from it on the pimple. This will give you faster results than the medications available at the drug store.


Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is the most effective and safe herb for the acne treatment. You can mix water with apple cider vinegar with approximately 6 bowl of water with 4 bowl of apple cider vinegar.

Apply this mixture on the acne with the help of a cotton swab. Before making the mixture be sure that the apple cider vinegar is 100% organic and unfiltered.


Burdock Root

This herb exonerates the toxins from the skin which helps in the prevention of acne. If you still have acne then this herb helps to prevent the spread of acne to other parts of the body.

This herb can be taken in the form of a tea by boiling the root of this herb in water. The raw form of this herb is available at the herbal health stores.


Jojoba Oil

The sebum is the fatty secretion of the sebaceous glands and when this secretion increases then acne increases. Jojoba oil helps to reduce the secretion of sebum and this herb also acts as a natural moisturizer and prevents acne.

The natural jojoba oil should be bought from the market and can be applied on the skin with the help of a cotton swab. This oil can be applied on the whole face also. Be sure to buy natural jojoba oil for best results.


Neem

Everybody knows that neem is very good for the skin. You should take proper diet with no oily and spicy food and use this herb o get rid of acne. You can use this herb by making a tea or by boiling the leaves in the water that you will use to take a bath.


Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. This herb can be applied directly on the acne but you should avoid its application if you have to go out or expecting some guest as it has a very strong fragrance.


Lavender Oil

Lavender oil has anti-bacterial, anti-viral and analgesic properties which help to penetrate into the skin quickly and reduce the pain and redness on the inflammated skin due to acne.

This herb helps to revitalize the skin and instigate the growth of new cells of the skin. The lavender oil should not be applied directly on the acne as this is very strong so mix this oil with grape seed oil before its application.


Dandelion Root

The dandelion root has the properties to clean the liver, eradicate the excess hormones and expedite the destruction of the toxins from the body. This herb is also a rich source of Vitamin A, B, C and D and some trace elements are also present in this herb. You can take this herb by application of its extract or by making a tea which is incomparable for the treatment of acne.


Green Tea

The green tea has some antioxidants which are popularly known as polyphenol. These antioxidants help to neutralize the damaging effects of the free radicals and the toxins that damages the skin and causes acne problems. When green tea is mixed with honeysuckle then the mixture is known as pimple tea which is an effective cure of acne.


Red Clover

Red clover is one of the traditional herbs that were used by our ancestors. The red clover is used to treat many diseases like eczema, psoriasis and acne. This herb acts as a blood cleanser and decreases the chances of occurrence of acne.

 


Olive Leaf Extract

Olive leaf has very good anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties and it contains an antioxidant known as oleuropein which helps to remove the harmful toxins from the body. This herb helps in the regulation of the hormones and kills the molds that cause acne.


Black Currant Seed

The oil extracted from the black currant seeds is anti-inflammatory in nature and has a high content of gamma linolenic acid which makes prostaglandins and cures the acne. The immunity of the body also increases by taking this herb.

This herb is available in the form of oil and capsules. The oil can be applied directly on the acne for a period of three months to get rid of acne. If you want to take capsules then a 500 mg capsule can be taken twice a day for three months to get rid of your acne.
