An unpleasant and foul smell emanating from the human body is body odour. The main culprit is the bacteria that culminates and multiplies on the secretions produced by the sweat glands. Herbal Remedies For Body Odor
Rosemary
Tea prepared from rosemary leaves (that are dried) can be used as bathing products such as body washes. Due to its antibacterial and antiseptic quality, its application eliminates the body odour that occurs due to the bacteria present in the perspiration. It can be prepared by steeping 1 teaspoon of rosemary in at least one cup of water on boiling point for a period of about 15 minutes.
This can be then applied to the underarms or the other affected areas as the last rinse in the bath. Powder can be made from rosemary by grounding it and can be applied directly after shower. The herbs are extremely beneficial in reducing foul smell that occurs due bacteria in sweat.
Fennel
Fennel is a commonly found herb mostly available in Indian households. It is a very effective herb used for eliminating body odour internally. To do this, one can prepare fennel tea by steeping its seeds (in crushed form) in a cup of water that is boiled for about 15 minutes.
This preparing can be consumed only after straining it and also can be flavoured with honey. This tea can then be consumed on a daily basis. It will successfully reduce the body odour that results within the intestines.
Lavender
This herb is one of the most effective herbs as it is aromatic in nature. It is also versatile and can be used in many different ways. One of the most common methods of using this herb is by preparing tea which can be prepared by the infusion of these flowers that are dried, in boiling water and then steeped for 10 minutes.
The bacteria are eliminated by the use of lavender as it is antibacterial in nature. Another way of using lavender is by adding it to the shower gel or the bath water as well. Lavender essential oil when added to distilled water and stored in a glass jar can be used for application on the affected areas such as the arm pits.
Thyme
Like lavender, thyme is another easily available herb that is used to get rid of body odour. It is a very easy process wherein its essential oil is used. One can add about 5 drops of this essential oil to the bath water or the body wash that is normally used.
This essential oil can also be added to distilled water in suitable proportion of about 5 drops in two cups. Application of this mixture all over the body after shower kills the bacteria thereby eliminating the foul smell. Thyme’s aromatic nature provides relief for hour’s altogether and facilitates easy sweating.
Fenugreek
This herb of Indian origin is very useful in eliminating body odour that results from internal causes. Infusions from crushed seeds of fenugreek are used for enemas that aid in cleansing of the intestines. This clears any scope of bacteria formation thus enabling odour free perspiration.
