Canker Sores are painful ulcers that can happen anywhere within the cheeks , lips or the tongue . It is a bacterial infection and is also called Aphthous ulcers. The root cause of this infection is not known, however, these sores are curable and not contagious. There are plenty of herbs available to treat canker sores.

These herbs are a storehouse of tannin (common name for tannic acid) that is known for its healing and astringent properties. They possess antiviral and antibacterial properties that aid intreating the cnker sores caused by fungus bacteria or some sort of allergy. Some of these herbs are mentioned below. Take them regularly with the right dose to get best outcomes.


Effective Herbal Remedies For Canker Sore

Cankerroot (Coptis Groenlandica)

This herb received its name from the ailment it cures that is cankerroot. It is also known as Goldthread. It is used it the the form of tea for both canker sores as well as a sore throat. Its root is also edible for the same purpose.


Myrrh

Tannin is present in high quantities which is instrumental in healing not just canker sores but also mild blisters in and around the mouth . Herbalists prescribe either 200 to 300 gms of powdered Myrrh with warm water or 4ml of its tincture can also be added to warm water.This solution has to be then gargled at least twice or thrice contains high amounts of tannins.

Powdered myrrh is useful for the treatment of mild inflammations of the mouthas well as the sores Myrrh had been used as a traditional remedy for mouth and gum irritations. Some herbalists suggest mixing 200-300 mg of herbal extract or 4 ml of myrrh tincture with warm water and swishing it in the mouth two to three times per day. It is also available in capsules which can be opened and the content can be directly be applied on the sore.


Goldenseal

Originating from America even Indians use these herbs to all types of wounds as it contains antiseptic properties and isastringent in nature . Dried goldenseal is added to boiling water and then steeped. It is ideally used as a mouthwash


Sage

Preparations of tea made by this dried herb in each cup of boiling water .it is then steeped ,After cooling it , this solution is then used as a mouthwash once it is cooled.It is an excellent cure for healing canken sores , blisters as well certain other sores as well . Excessive use of this solution is prohibited as it has chances of causing convulsions.

Wild geranium (Geranium maculatum). This wild herb is exceptional ihealing sores of all kinds and also for stopping of wounds. It works as a mouth wash and also as an astringent respectively


Echinacea

An antiviral and antiseptic herb ,Echinacea , it is one of the most obvious remedy for treating canker sores and other types of mouth ulcers.

Swishing 4 ml of liquid Echinacea for about three minutes (and then swallowed) not only enhances immunity but is excellentfor healing wounds.This gargling is to be repeated three times a day. It is available as capsules and tablets as well.
