An arrhythmia is when rhythm of the heartbeat is abnormal. The major symptoms are that the heart beat can be excessively fast, or too slow, and even of irregular rhythm (palpitations). It is often called the disorder of the heart electrical system (that controls the blood flow to the rest of the body). When the heartbeat is faster than normal it is called tachycardia; while a slower pace of heartbeat is known to be bradycardia.
Such conditions are usually harmless, however at times the consequences can be fatal. When a person confronts arrhythmia, the heart might lose the capability of pumping enough blood required for the body, which can lead to a damaged brain, heart and other organs or even a cardiac arrest.
