When the heartbeat is faster than normal it is called tachycardia; while a slower pace of heartbeat is known to be bradycardia.

Such conditions are usually harmless, however at times the consequences can be fatal. When a person confronts arrhythmia, the heart might lose the capability of pumping enough blood required for the body, which can lead to a damaged brain, heart and other organs or even a cardiac arrest. Skullcap

This is a very well-known herb in Native America and also in traditional European medicine for heart ailments. The herb is widely used to treat insomnia, relieve nervousness and alleviate the symptoms of arrhythmia, rabies, epilepsy, and various other issues of nervous system. Skullcap is mostly used as a sedative.

Experiments show that skullcap helps reduce anxiety levels, which in turn help to reduce arrhythmia. Skullcap is frequently taken along with other herbal sedative. Long term use is discouraged. Since, many factors are to be kept in mind like the patient’s age, stage of the disease and so on, it is advisable to consult an herbalist and then consume the herb.

Valerian

This is a flowering plant and is found in Asia and Europe and has since been introduced to North America too. Its root has medicinal qualities, with use as a sedative and as treatment for anxiety. It helps reduce stress during demanding circumstances.

Stress and anxiety are leading causes of cardiac arrhythmia as they cause palpitations. Valerian has therefore found use as an herbal remedy for cardiac arrhythmias. Dosage should be regulated by a physician and it’s not suitable for children.

Lady’s Slipper

The non-scientific name of this herb is because of the typical form of these orchids. Plants of the genus have found medical use. Lady’s Slipper has been found to heal nerves and calm down individuals. It is used both alone and also along with other cures to intended to treat anxiety and insomnia.

It is also sometimes used to treat muscular pain. Anxiety, degenerative heart muscles and insomnia are common causes of arrhythmia, and thus Lady’s Slipper is considered an effective herbal remedy for cardiac arrhythmias. To be taken under medical supervision.

Corydalis

Corydalis refers to a genus of herbaceous plants. There a number of various species of these perennial plants, found mostly in temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere or at high altitudes in Eastern Africa.

The stalk (underground) of corydalis is used for blood stimulation which maintains steady blood flow and keeps it from clotting thus preventing arrhythmias.Corydalis is known to have various side effects and as such its use and dosage should be strictly supervised by a medical physician.

Goldenseal

Orangeroot and yellow puccoon are the other common names of this perennial herb. It is foundin the United States and Canada. This herb is a source of Berberine.

Studies have proved that berberine is an effective herbal remedy for cardiac arrhythmias. Although side effects are not severe, medical supervision is advised.
