Garlic is a very good herb to reduce the blood cholesterol as the chemical compound of the garlic ajoene and allicin binds the excess cholesterol and flush it out from the body. You can take a clove of raw garlic daily or take it by crushing it. The garlic pearls are also available in the market at drug stores.


Saffron

Saffron is given by the saffron flower and it has got very good taste and aroma. This is used in many Indian and Asian cuisines. Saffron contains crocetin which helps in lowering the cholesterol.

You can take saffron by adding it as a flavor to your vegetable or sweet dish. Some of the herbal medicines that contain saffron as an ingredient can also be taken. The saffron used must be 100% natural for best results.


Cayenne

The cayenne pepper is predominant in Jamaican, Indian and Chinese cuisine. It gives a very good flavor to all the recipes. The cayenne pepper contains capsaicin that helps to reduce cholesterol as it produced heat. You can take this herb by adding it to your vegetables or salads.


Ginger

The herb ginger has got a very sweet, spicy and pungent aroma. The roots of this herb have some chemical that clears the excess cholesterol form the blood. Ginger tea is equally good for lowering cholesterol.


Psyllium

Psyllium herb is the native from China and it contains mucilage which explicate when comes in collision with any liquid and absorb the cholesterol in the digestive system before it enters the blood. You can take this herb in the form of powdered extract and dried leaves.


Hawthorn

The berries from hawthorn tree helps to prevent the cholesterol to stay on the walls of the arteries and blood vessels. Turmeric

An important component of turmeric known as cur cumin helps to lower the cholesterol levels and disperse the clots of blood that increases the chances of stroke.

Arjuna

The herb Arjuna is being used for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. It helps to prevent the rise in cholesterol levels.This herb is available in the form of capsules and as an ingredient in other herbal medicines.


Coriander

Coriander has antioxidant properties which is good for the treatment of high cholesterol. It blocks the absorption of the rising cholesterol in the intestines and converts it into the bile acids which got excreted with urine.


Wild yam

The wild yam herb is diuretic, anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory in nature which helps to lower the cholesterol levels in the body. It contains a compound known as dysgenic which is very good for many health problems. This is the reason that wild yam is being used in several herbal medicinal preparations.

Wild yam is available as a tincture, liquid extract, powder extract, tablet or capsule form. The recommended dosage for this supplement is 2-3 ml of the tincture and liquid extract thrice a day. The capsules or tablets can be taken one or two taken thrice a day depending upon the extent of level of cholesterol in the body.


Alfafa

The herb alfalfa is an effective herb for reducing LDL cholesterol with no effect on HDL cholesterol. The HDL cholesterol is the good cholesterol which should not be reduced in the body and the alfalfa is the only herb that prevents the increase in LDL cholesterol and decline in HDL cholesterol.

The alfalfa can be taken in the form of tea,capsules,powder etc.The recommended dosage for lowering cholesterol levels should be around 5-10 gms of dries alfalfa leaves and the capsules of 400-500 mg can be taken once or twice a day.
