Iritis is also known as uveitis and it refers to inflammation in the iris of the eye. It usually occurs because of trauma to the eye or by infectious viruses. Iritis is classified into two categories; acute iritis and chronic iritis. Chronic iritis makes you visually impaired and it is highly advised to see a doctor as soon as the symptoms appear.

Acute iritis is comparatively less dangerous. If not treated at all the inflammation will heal by itself in a month or two. Here are the herbal remedies for iritis that are sure to prove effective –

Simple Herbal Remedies For Iritis

Arnica

Arnica is a traditional herb used for skin and hair related disorders. It is also one of the best herbal remedies for iritis, body pain, etc. Take some Arnica leaves and make a warm compress out of it.

Heat it in water and with a soft cloth apply it on the eyelids. It will begin to heal the iritis affected eyes instantly. You will feel the pain disappearing after a few applications. Test the herb for the skin on your hand first to check if you are allergic to it.

Bilberry

The bilberry plant contains a number of nutrients and compounds to treat medical conditions. There is a substance known as Tannis in this herb and it plays the key role in reducing inflammation in the eyes caused because of iritis.

The tea made of the berries can help reduce the pain and swelling to a great extent. The dosage of bilberry is not common for everybody therefore, it is necessary to take a physician’s advice before consuming the herb.

Turmeric

Turmeric is an antioxidant and a well known herb for iritis, colitis, ulcers, dyspepsia, and many more health problems. Turmeric is usually known to treat skin and injuries caused to the body internally as well as externally.

It kills the virus cause the infection and cure the inflammation and pain in the iris. Take turmeric with food regularly. You can cook it or simply drink it with water. Take around 500 to 600 mg of the herb three times a day until the iritis is cured.

Ginger

Ginger has several medicinal properties for the benefit of almost all the internal parts of the body. It treats cancer, nausea, chronic cough or bronchitis, etc. It helps in treating inflammation in the iris and reliefs from the symptoms of iritis.

To cure iritis, ginger extracts have to be consumed regularly with meals or as tea. Too much of it could have side effects, so take around 4 grams of ginger, at a minimum of 2 and not more than 4 doses per day.

Flaxseed Oil

The flax herb contains a number of anti-inflammatory properties for the eyes and other delicate organs. It is one of the best herbal remedies for iritis, and also prevents the iris from other infectious viruses.

Omega-3 is a fatty acid contained in the oil of flax seeds and it helps the iritis in curing faster. It also helps in the lowering of cholesterol in the blood. Take 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil with soup or other edible fluid 2 to 3 times regularly.
