6 Herbal Remedies For Osteoporosis

Fenugreek

Fenugreek is considered an osteoprotective herb. Fenugreek contains calcium, phosphorous, thiamine, niacin and alkaloid trigonelline and choline. These components help to strengthen the bones and prevent osteoporosis.

Fenugreek should be added in your meals daily. Fenugreek leaves can be eaten as a vegetable and the seeds can be consumed in form of powder, paste and decoction.


Amla

Amla is a small sized fruit but its health benefits are tremendous. It is the richest natural source of vitamin C. Amla is used for treating various ailments including osteoporosis. Its regular use helps to maintain healthy bones.

It promotes vigour in the body and it contributes towards longevity. For treating osteoporosis amla should be consumed every day. Extract the juice of one amla and mix it with half a glass of water and 1 tea spoon honey.

Drink it every morning on an empty stomach. Take one tea spoon dried amla powder with 2 tea spoons jaggery twice a day for one month to treat osteoporosis.


Parsley

Parsley is known more for its culinary purposes, but it is a healthy nutrient for overall health. Parsley contains good amounts of iron, potassium and vitamin A, C and K. Parsley strengthens the immune system and it prevents bone loss.

The vitamin K present in parsley helps in better absorption of calcium thus it helps to maintain healthy bones. Fresh parsley is added to vegetables and soups to treat osteoporosis.


Garlic

Garlic helps to increase calcium absorption in the body and it increaseses the secretion of estrogens; which is responsible for maintaining strong bones. Garlic contains high amounts of calcium, phosphorous, iron, riboflavin, niacin and vitamin C.

It is widely used in cooking all over the world for its numerous health benefits. To treat osteoporosis you should eat two garlic pods in morning on an empty stomach. You can also eat crushed garlic pods with honey for healthy bones.


Dandelion

Dandelion is a herb that contains high amounts of calcium, manganese along with other vitamins and minerals. It is an extremely effective herb for treating and preventing osteoporosis.

Take 3-5 grams of dried root of dandelion and steep it for 15 minutes in boiling water. Drink the tea once or twice a day. Dandelion leaves can also be added to salads and vegetables.


Horsetail

Horsetail contains a large amount of silicon which helps to prevent osteoporosis. Make a decoction with one tea spoon of dried horsetail, boil it in one glass of water and let it simmer for 15 minutes.Add a tea spoon of sugar and strain the mixture. Take it twice a day. Horsetail should be taken under the supervision of a medical practitioner.
