Pruritus is the medical term for itching and allergies, inflammation, or even physical irritation occurs as a symptom in this disease. Pruritis means irritation and itching of the skin or mucous membranes which in rare cases is accompanied by various nervous disorders like herpes It occurs with tingling and uneasy sensation on the skin.The main reason for this problem is skin irritation and inflammation.Other possible reasons can be used of chemical irritants like laundry detergent or soap ,side-effects of some medicine or insect bites.

The occurrence of itching in one part of the body or the entire body depends on the cause and itching may be accomopanied by redbess,swelling,pain or discharge by lesions or pustules. Effective Herbal Remedies For Pruritis

Calendula

Calendula is anti-inflammatory in nature and helps to heal all types of irritation associated with pruritis. This herb can be applied externally in cream base on the affected area or in the form of salve. The anti-bacterial properties of calendula make it a good face wash for irritated skin with dryness and acne.

Although calendula is often used in the form of creams, lotions and oils, but it can be taken as an herbal tea, used as a tincture, and applied as a poultice on the affected area. Fresh calendula flowers can be applied directly on the irritated skin. To get the best results and heal skin irritation effectively, it is advised to use this herb with comfrey and St.John’s Wort.

Flaxseed

Flaxseed are very soothing and anti-inflammatory in nature. When the seeds of flax are taken with water regularly then they give immediate relief from skin irritation and other allergies associated with pruritis. The main constituents of flaxseed are 50%-60% of linolenic acid with lignans and astringent properties makes it an effective herb for pruritis relief.

Golden Seal

Due to skin irration swelling and inflammation takes place in pruritis but when herbs like golden seal is used externally in the form of powder or cream on the affected are then it reduces inflammation and irritation.Goldenseal herb can also be taken in the form of tea also.

Mint

Mint, a herb rich in menthol content with lots of medical properties like anti-inflammatory and anesthetic helps to give cooling effect on skin.To apply it on the affected area, just mix some grinded leaves of mint with cold water and with the help of a cotton swab rub the paste on the affected area whenever required to get immediate relief.

Thyme

One of the main component of thyme, known as thymol has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties as it is one of the recommended herbs for facial care and cuts and wounds so can be used for the treatment of skin irritation and soothes skin from all type of allergies.

The concentrated essential oil of thyme can be used on skin as a powerful disinfectant and it kills all germs and bacteria causing skin irritation. Makes sure not to apply thyme essential oil undiluted.
