Dentine hypersensitivity is that delicate condition of the teeth when extreme irritation is caused to the nerves that are found in the teeth and its roots. The main cause of this pain is consumption of cold, hot, sour or sweet food. Even air pressure and other such forces can cause sensitive teeth. Many a times the dentists are successful in discovering the cause of the sensitivity but sometimes tooth sensitivity‘s cause is best unknown.

The dentine is either sensitive to pressure or to temperature. In the former case, people tend to grind their teeth habitually, which causes sensitivity. If it is persistent then one must not refrain from consulting a dentist as it could be a critical case of tooth decay or there could be a cracked or a broken tooth too. When the teeth have been compromised then it is said to have become sensitive to temperature. This could be because of eroding enamel, lack of folic acid, hot and cold food and also exposed teeth. Some of the herbal remedies to cure the sensitive teeth are mentioned below.

Herbal Remedies For Sensitive Teeth

Neem

This ancient herb is used extensively for treating dental problems. Plaques are detrimental for the teeth as they harden and cause extreme sensitivity. Neems leave help in eradicating the plaques and bring back the normalcy in the teeth.

Neem leaves when crushed, forms a paste that can be applied to the sensitive teeth at least two times daily to get prompt relief. This paste also has the potential to strengthen the teeth and the gums as well.


Tea Tree Oil

This ancient herb is known to have antibacterial properties that helps in providing relief to sensitive teeth, as the sensitivity stems out from some type of infection caused by bacteria ,that attacks the roots of the teeth.

The method of application is very easy as it can be applied to a wet brush and used. After this, it is directly applied to the gums with help of a cotton swab. This is a complete form of treatment that will reduce or even get rid of the sensitivity to the cold as well as hot and also take care of the infectious teeth.

The dental floss can be soaked with oil as well. Some dental floeass is already in the market that is premeditated with t tree oil. This is an excellent form of treatment for maintain the good condition of teeth as well.


Green Tea

Green tea is another herb that has compound to remove bacteria causing the decay in the teeth. When it is used as a mouth wash before going to bed, it gets rid of the bacteria and the plaques caused by it.


St. John’s Wort

St John’s wort is an age old remedy for a gamut of illness, mainly a lot of neurotic disorder. Use St John’s wort is ideal when sensitive tooth is caused by an exposed or a damaged nerve.


Myrrh

The tincture of this herb is excellent for sensitive teeth caused by inflammation. The astringent nature soothes the affected root of the teeth thus relieve the teeth.
