Unlike animals, we humans, eat according to our instincts and tend to respond to hunger pangs more frequently and this leads to obesity in no time. We don’t have to hunt for food like animals, and we never have to starve. Therefore, food is more like pleasure for us than subsistence and eating more than required leads to an appetite we later find difficult to get rid of. Loss of appetite is known as anorexia in medical terms and the treatment options include natural ways like counseling and nutrition therapies.

There are conventional medicines and consumable chemical that helps in reducing the appetite but then can have harmful side effects on your body. Here are the best known herbs for appetite

Various Herbs For Appetite

Wormwood

The bitter the better – Wormwood is a bitter herb used in several medicines for treating various diseases. It is one of the most reliable herbs for appetite, dyspepsia, and irritable bowel syndrome.

The herb has a tendency to purify your stomach and bowels. It directly works on the digestive system and takes away the hunger pangs from your mind. Take around 500 mg of the herb thrice a day regularly as a tea with plain water.

Gentian

Gentian is an herb with remarkable bitterness in its roots. The roots however are used for medicinal purposes than the plant itself and occasionally used in brewing as well.

Take a limited amount of it twice a day for best results in getting rid of appetite. You can also get tonic made out of the herb and have 2 to 3 ml of that regularly. There are known side effects of the herb. It is also anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and anthelmintic in nature.

Juniper Berries

Juniper is one of the best used herbs for appetite, bladder infection, arthritis, etc. It is usually combined with goldenrod, dandelion, and some herbs for effectiveness.

The berry helps in washing out the bacteria from your body that causes diseases and gives you hunger pangs. Boil 1 cup of water and add 1 tablespoon of the berries to prepare tea and let it boil for 20 minutes. Have the tea twice a day. It is not recommended for patients with a bladder infection.

Rhubarb

Rhubarb is an herb used in cooking since the 17th century in Europe. The roots of this herb are proven to be beneficial for diabetes, liver problems, allergies and also appetite. It makes you want to reduce on the unnecessary stuffing for pleasure.

Take around 1 teaspoon of the root and boil that in a cup of water for 10 minutes. Have the tea three times a day. For women going through menopause, it is suggested to take a doctor’s advice for the dosage.

Bee Pollen

Bee pollen is a legendary medicinal herb with healing properties for appetite, enhancing performance, hay fever, memory loss, etc. The herb boosts your metabolism which helps your body surpass hunger and appetite.

Take around 200 to 500 mg of the bee pollen plant extracts. It is advised to take the doctor’s consultation before going in for the herb as it might have some side effects for people ailing from certain body disorders.
