Share

With the world going digital, our eyes are most of the time in contact with laptops, mobiles, TV, etc., which make our eyes tired and irritated. Apart from this, stress, insufficient sleep, and tension add to this with redness in the eyes, dark circles, etc.

There are some excellent herbs which can soothe and relax your eye muscles and thus give you relief from eye irritation.

6 Effective Herbs For Eye Irritation

Calendula

Calendula is an excellent anti-inflammatory, antiviral, anti-fungal, immune-stimulating herb, which is very effective in soothing eye irritation. Calendula gives a calming effect on both the inner and skin around the outer part of the eye. When using calendula, use only the flower petals for making this decoction (strain twice to remove any bits that may be in the liquid).

You can also buy its tincture or decoction from herbal medical store; take a few drops of Calendula in the form of tincture and massage your eyes and area surrounding eyes with the help of your fingertips to get a soothing effect on your eyes.

Fennel Seeds

Fennel seeds are a very common ingredient of Indian kitchen and full of amazing health benefits. To treat eye irritation, slightly crush fennel seeds using a properly cleaned mortar and pestle and make a smooth decoction.

Apply a small amount of it over your eyes and massage with the help of your fingertips. Fennel seed is especially good for inflamed eyes as it is anti-inflammatory in nature.

Rose Petals

Roses not only look beautiful in garden but also contain excellent qualities for treatment of various skin and eye related problems. Always use fresh rose petals to make a decoction and make sure they are not sprayed with any chemicals.

Apply a small amount of it over your eyes and massage smoothly to get relaxation. This is also very effective for removing dark circles. You can also use rose water to wash your eyes 3-4 times for treatment of stressed eyes.

Chamomile

Chamomile is a soothing herb and gives a cooling effect on irritated eyes and skin. Make your own decoction with chamomile or buy a good herbal decoction from herbal medical stores.

Apply it over your eyes and area surrounding the eyes to relax and tone them. You can also soak chamomile in water overnight and then use this water as an eye wash for irritated eyes.
