5 Herbs For Folliculitis

Folliculitis is basically scalp infection caused by inflammation of hair follicles on the skin. If you observe redness, boil, rashes, around the hair follicles that may be folliculitis. Some bacteria like pseudomonas, staphylococci, or may be yeast can cause this infection.

In extreme cases, you should visit a dermatologist, though at initial stage and in certain cases herbs are the best remedies because they have many natural antiseptic agents which kill the microbes causing folliculitis. Here are some amazing herbs which can rid you of folliculitis.

Treat Folliculitis With Herbs

Turmeric

Turmeric is one of the most common ingredients of Indian kitchen; and being an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial agent, works miraculously on bacterial infection causing folliculitis. You can make a thick paste of turmeric with luke warm water and apply it to the infected area.Leave it for 15-20 minutes or till it dries and then gently rinse off. You will get rid of itching and irritation caused due to folliculitis immediately. Continue this for 1-2 weeks till the disease is treated permanently.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is used for treatment of several skin diseases and is a preferred remedy for treating any kind of skin inflammation and infection. Aloe vera gel has excellent anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant properties that kill harmful bacteria causing folliculitis.

You can directly extract sticky gel from the leaf and apply a thin coating onto the boil and massage gently. This will soothe the redness and inflammation of skin and treat folliculitis permanently.

Thyme

Thyme acts on the root cause of bacterial infection and is an excellent expectorant, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory herb.

You can sip thyme tea added with honey 2-3 times a day which will improve immunity, detoxify your body, and flush out bacteria and infection causing folliculitis. Topical application of thyme paste works very effectively on folliculitis and gives relief from redness, itching, boils causing the disease.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a natural cleanser and loaded with amazing anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. This herb is used for several beauty treatments and used in a range of beauty products. This essential oil is used to treat several skin disorders as it acts effectively against bacteria and fungus causing skin infection.

It disinfects the skin and prevents frequent recurrence of infection and attack of bacteria. You can get its extract at medical outlets. Apply a thin coating of tea tree oil over the infected area and massage gently. This will give you relief from redness and inflammation of skin and treat folliculitis enduringly.

Garlic

Garlic is one of the most common ingredients of Indian kitchen and is used since ancient times as a herbal medicine to treat several health problems. Garlic is loaded with excellent health benefits and it is a natural cleanser which detoxifies all the impurities of body.Garlic can cause burning sensation in skin, therefore make a paste of garlic with coconut oil and apply it over the infected area. Garlic contains highly anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory substances which flush out all the impurities of body and give relief from inflammation and irritation of folliculitis. You should also add it to your daily foods.
