8 Home Remedies For Bird Flu

Avian Influenza or better known as Bird flu is a highly contagious and generally fatal disease that is caused by influenza virus, from the Orthomyxoviridae family, adapted to birds, poultry which can be easily transmitted to humans. The most pathogenic form of this flu is caused by the H5N1 virus.

This flu which has its origins in Italy has caused fatalities since 100 years and had become a pandemic in Asia, Middle East, Europe and Africa which took a toll on thousands of lives in recent past .The common symptoms of bird flu in humans are similar to the traits of common flu like cough, muscle ache, fever, sore throat, along with other life threatening health issues that include viral pneumonia, acute respiratory problems etc.

Since the initial symptoms of this deadly disease are very similar to the ones in common flu, hence special laboratory testing is required. Certain anti viral medication have proven helpful in treating avian flu and antibiotics may be useful. However since there are no vaccines for this disease following proper prevention procedure like avoiding contact with potentially infected poultry, maintaining good personal hygiene is highly recommended. But one can opt for home remedies while treating with antibiotics as it might help in reducing the symptoms without any side effects.


Effective Remedies For Bird Flu

Garlic

Garlic contains antiviral and anti inflammatory properties that helps in reducing any kind of inflammation caused within the body.

Fresh garlic cloves can be taken with food to reduce the symptoms caused due to blood flu. One can either eat it raw or with salad. It helps to relieve from sore throat, cold and cough. Make sure to consume it once daily.


Steam Inhalation

Another effective remedy to treat bird flu and its symptoms is preparing steam inhalation with different essential oils. These essential oils contain antiviral and antiseptic properties that help in controlling common symptoms like cold, cough and muscle ache caused due to bird flu infection.

We can mix few drops of lavender oil and rosewood oil with eucalyptus oil in same proportion in hot boiling steamed water and then start inhaling that water. Try this remedy 4-5 times in day to cure the sore throat problems. If one fumigates his oil with these essential oils it helps to prevent the spread of flu infection.


Feet Therapy

Another good home remedy to control common symptoms caused by bird flu is soaking the patient’s feet in warm water. During the infection one should try and keep the body warm. The best way to do that is keeping one’s feet warm. It helps to get rid from coldness.

In a bucket of warm water add a teaspoon of mustard powder and soak the patient’s feet for 10 minutes. It helps in curbing problems caused due to bird flu like muscle ache and gives relieve to the patient from coldness to a great extent.


Epsom salts

A patient suffering from bird flu should try and take bath using Epsom salts. One can add 30-60 ml of Epsom salts to hot water and the patient can bathe in such water. But make sure that after bathing the patient should immediately go to bed.

Epsom salts contains anti inflammatory properties that helps to reduce the inflammation caused within the patient’s body. Once daily bathing with Epsom salt is enough to reduce cold and muscle problems.


Grape Juice

A patient suffering from bird flu should try and include dark grape juices in his diet .It helps them to fight against bird flu infections. They contain antiviral properties which help in reducing the fever and also gives relief from congestion and running nose.

One can also dilute the juices if they are too sweet. It helps in combating flu. Try drinking the juice 2 times daily but make sure to give it to the patient only at room temperature. It definitely kills the virus and also stops further condition of to patient to deteriorate.


Peppermint Tea

Another effective remedy to control and further prevent bird flu is using peppermint leaves. It helps in building the immunity system strong and also controls on the coughs and pain caused due to bird flu. Peppermint leaves extract can be used as inhaler to reduce congestion and runny nose.

Another way of using peppermint leaves is allow these leaves to boil in water for sometimes. Prepare a peppermint tea and then drink it slowly. It helps to clear congestion and helps the body sweat to come out. If sweat of the body comes out it means it effectively control fever of the body. The leaves of peppermint contains anti inflammatory properties to fight body’s inflammation.


Chamomile Tea

A person suffering from bird flu can also consume chamomile tea. Since centuries lot of people is using leave of chamomile plants to treat congestion and control on fever. We can boil water and add few drops of chamomile leaves. Add honey for taste.Consume this tea 2 daily to get rid of problems like congestion and helps to get rid of fever.

One can also use chamomile leaves as inhaler to get rid of running nose. It also help to reduce restlessness caused during this stage. Chamomile leaves contains antiviral properties that helps the further spreading of the disease.


Turmeric

Another way to reduce bird flu infection and curb the disease is using turmeric powder. It contains anti inflammatory properties that curbs fever and muscle ache problems. It also helps in boosting the immune system. One can either consume it with food during cooking or add a teaspoon of turmeric powder in water and drink it daily for reducing lethal effects caused due to bird flu.
