5 Remedies For Blackheads

One of the common skin problems that one faces is open comedones or blackheads.

These occur when bacteria or dead cells clog the skin pores. In such cases, the pores open at the skin surface and appear to be black in color due to the light it reflects.

Though black in color, the hair follicles or pores does not mean that dirt has accumulated at the pores. To get rid of these, there are innumerable home remedies for blackheads. These easy to access remedies simply unclog the trapped oil or bacteria and remove it. In case, the condition worsens and there is no sign of improvement then consulting a dermatologist is recommended.


Effective Blackhead Remedies

Blackheads are easy to remove with simple remedies. A Few of the most effective ones are listed below:


Orange Peel

Clearing clogged pore is possible with freshly grated oranges. The best and most effective way is to grate orange peel and mix it with plain yogurt. Make a thick paste and apply the mixture by massaging the skin for approximately five minutes.

This exfoliates the pores and unclogs them. For best results, use tepid water. Repeat this on a daily basis till the blackheads are removed.


Vinegar and Lemon Juice

Containing acid that cleans the skin pores, both vinegar and lemon juice can be applied onto the blackheads for instant removal. To make the perfect mixture for blackhead removal, mix equal parts of lemon juice and vinegar and soak a cotton pad in it.

Next, dab the blackhead affected area with the soaked cotton at least twice on a daily basis for around five minutes. Once done, rinse it off with water. Use an oil-free moisturizer on the affected area.


Cornmeal

Another effective remedy is cornmeal that is known to be a natural skin exfoliator. To make the perfect skin exfoliating mixture, mix cornmeal with water and make a thick paste. Once the paste is made, massage the paste onto the affected area for five minutes. Done on a daily basis, the cornmeal paste can be washed off with tepid water.


Iodine and Epsom Salt

Blackheads can also be easily removed with iodine and Epsom salt mixture. To make the blackhead removal mixture, mix a teaspoon of Epsom salt with a few drops of iodine and boiling water.

Once the mixture is made, soak cotton ball in it and dab it directly on the blackheads. Leave it in for approximately five minutes and then squeeze it out of the pore with a sterilized guaze.


Rose Water and Lemon Juice

Rose water and lemon juice can be mixed to make a blackhead tonic that can effectively reduce the occurrence of blackheads and pimples. Apply the rose water and lemon juice mixture onto the blackheads on a regular basis.

While the ascorbic acidic components of the lemon juice can kill the bacteria and unclog the pores, the rose water will neutralize the acidity and reduce chances of scarring. Once the liquid mixture is applied, rinse it off after around 20 minutes.
