6 Remedies For Burns On Hands

Hand burns are common among individuals who spend quality time in the kitchen. Whether you have burned the hands while cooking or scathed the leg with a hot cup of tea, a burn can be extremely painful.

Home Treatment For Burns On Hands

Most of the burns on hands remedies may not be able to fully treat it but these will certainly help in making the pain bearable till you can consult a doctor.

Cool Water

As soon as you scald the skin, place the hand under running cool water. This must be done for approximately 15 minutes and it will minimize the skin heat and prevent the appearance of skin blisters.


Clean Gauze

Another possible way to treat burns on hands is to wrap the burned hand with clean gauze. Avoid using a cotton bandage as it can aggravate the burn by sticking onto the burned area. So, clean gauze a good option to wrap the burned area. Before you resort to this type of treatment for burns on hands, allow the burn to heal by itself by leaving it undisturbed for at least a day. 


Hand Wash

Cooling the burn under cool water is a good treatment but for better results, wash it with antiseptic soap on a daily basis after 24 hours of the burning incidence. Washing removes the germs and minimizes the chances of any infection. Next, use a clean and damp towel to wrap the burn. This takes away the heat from the burn and also reduces the swelling, one of the aftermaths of burns of any kind. 


Aloe Vera Gel

For burns on hands one, can apply aloe vera gel to prevent blisters from appearing. Alternatively, one can also apply silver sulfadiazine cream or wear sterile gloves. These prevent breaking the blisters open and triggering the chances of any skin infection.


Daily Change of Dressing

For effective treatment of burns on hands, change the dressing on a daily basis. Keep your infected area clean and this will help in fastening the healing process. In case you notice any pus or increased inflammation, one must consult a doctor immediately.


Medicinal Honey

Also known as manuka, it can be found in most health food stores. It can substitute aloe vera gel and can be applied onto the burn for treatment of burns. For best cover the skin with honey on a daily basis till the burn starts healing.


Nutritional Remedies

When suffering from burn wounds, opt for nutrients that will boost the immune system and allow the skin to heal effectively. Most healing from burns requires a daily dose of proteins and vitamins to trigger the healing process.
