7 Home Remedies For Burnt Skin

Burnt skin is the cause of the contact of the skin with any kind of hot surface or source such as fire, steam etc. The skin can also get burnt by chemical, electric, radiation or may be by sunburn. The burns are classified by the doctors depending on the damage caused on the skin surface due to the burn. The burn is said to be 1st degree if the burn has damaged only the outer layer of the skin.

The next degree that is the 2nd degree pertains to the damage caused inside the outer skin layer and lastly the 3rd degree causes damage to all the layers of the skin.The most common symptom is the damage of the skin. Other symptoms include fever, weakness, faintness and headache. The skin may also get swelled by the burn. The skin burns can be treated by various home remedies available in almost every home.


Effective Home Remedies For Burnt Skin

Ice

The first thing that is to be done after the burn is to apply ice cubes over the affected area as soon as possible. Just in case, the ice is not available, one can also dip the burnt portion in chilled water or put under running water.


Honey

Take fresh honey and apply it over the burnt area properly and then finally cover the area with a bandage to protect the area getting infected. Honey helps to cure the skin quite faster.


Yogurt

Yogurt is a cooling agent and thus cools the skin down and provides relief to the injured person from pain. Take a generous amount of yogurt and apply it to the burnt area and keep the skin like that for around 15 to 20 minutes to get proper results.


Onion

Onion is known to be a steriliser. Onion proves to be very effective to cure the burnt skin and is easily available in every house. To get optimum result from skin burn, cut half the onion and apply it over the burnt area of the skin.


Egg whites

Egg whites not only provide relief from the pain of the burnt skin but also stop the swelling of the skin. Take out the white portion of a normal egg and leave the yolk (yellow portion). Now apply the white portion of the egg to the affected area of the skin and leave it for about 8 to 10 minutes.


Papaya Pulp

The burnt skin gets healed quickly with the help of the pulp of papaya. The dead cells also get removed by applying the pulp of the papaya. The enzymes present in the pulp of papaya help to heal and treat the skin burn effectively.


Olive Oil With Cotton

Take a large piece of cotton and burn it on fire. Collect all the ash of the burnt cotton and put them in a bowl. Now add olive oil to the bowl and prepare a mixture of the two, a black paste will form. Apply the thick paste over the burnt skin and cover the area with a film. This is the most effective remedy for the burnt skin.
