Cavities are a cause of trapped food which results in small holes in teeth. Food particles usually get trapped between teeth while chewing. If teeth are not cleaned properly, bacteria in mouth fermentate the food leftovers and the procedure releases acid. This acid leads to tooth decay causing cavities.
Cavitivies can lead to other serious issues such as tooth loss, pain and infection. To prevent further problems, the issue must be treated as soon as diagnosed. Cavities cannot be reduced with home remedies as the treatment requires filling of a special material in the affected area, though it is possible to stop any further decay.
It is important to maintain a clean and hygeinic mouth to avoid cavities. Oral cleanliness can be maintained by brushing and flossing. Both the processes help in removing food particles stuck in teeth and in removing plaque. Plaque contains bacteria and should be cleaned timely to keep teeth safe from any bacterial activity. Brushing helps in removing plaque from teeth and flossing helps in cleaning the areas between teeth.
The bacteria in mouth work with sugar to create holes in your teeth. They convert sugar into lactic acid by the process of fermetation. This produced acid causes cavities by demineralization of teeth. In order to avoid all this, it is important to limit your sugar intake. The problem can also be avoided by using mouth wash after having any sugar based product. Mouthwash neutralizes the acid, avoiding demineralization and decaying.
Having tea would help fight cavities provided the tea is either black or green. It should not include any other additives such as sugar or milk. Tea contains compounds called polyphenols which attack bacteria that cause cavities. Thus, having tea once in a day will be good to avoid tooth decay. But excess of tea may cause stains on teeth, so make sure you do not take excess of it and ensure proper brushing.
Cloves are anti- bacterial and thus can be used to fight against oral bacteria. Keep a clove in your mouth and allow it to work slowly by killing the bacteria which cause cavity. Decaying teeth may sometimes cause pain as well. Keeping a clove in mouth near the paining area would relieve you from the pain. Clove oil can also be used for the purpose. Dip cotton in clove oil and press it over affected area. This would not only help in preventing any further decay, but also reduce toothache.
The yum cheese which has various health benefits is good for your teeth as well. Cheese is a rich source of calcium which helps in hardening of teeth and keeping them healthy. Soft teeth get easily decayed, hence hardening helps in forming a protective shield over teeth against decay. Cheese also avoids acidity in mouth by balancing the pH. Since acid is responsible for causing tooth decay, maintaining oral pH would be a great help in avoiding cavities.
All of the above remedies help in stagnating the problem. Though, the condition cannot be improved and should not be avoided. If you have a small cavity, you can manage by using the above remedies which would prevent any further damage. But if the cavity seems deep and causes pain, then do not avoid going to a dentist.
