Home Remedies for Cough for Children

Mostly parents do not want to give medication to their kids in general cold and cough. Cough in children is very common that happens due to playing in sand or climate variation.

There are many simple home remedies that will provide relief to your children and make them feel better. It is quite easy to prepare simple drinks for the kids to relief cough and they have good taste. Cough in kids has to be treated in earliest so that it may not get turned to bronchitis. So immediately give them these home remedies and if important you can consult the doctor as well.

Water

Make your child to drink a lot of water. If your kid is less than one year, then put him on breast-feed or the formula. You can also give them electrolyte solution, which is easily available at medical stores. These fluids will help your kid to stay hydrated and this will help to cut down the mucus. Excessive fluids will help in breathing well and provide relief from cough.


Honey

Honey is a very natural way to cure cough. Give half spoon of honey two times a day to your child. This will provide relief in throat pain and also help in removing cough. You can mix half spoon of honey in milk and give at bedtime. Honey has the property that helps in sleeping well. This will make your kid sleep well and provide relief from excessive cough.

Garlic

Garlic is a very good natural treatment for cough. If your child is eating food, then add two cloves of garlic in their food. If your child is very small, then prepare a necklace using 6-7 garlic cloves with a thread. Put this around your kid’s neck during sleeping time. Its strong smell will help in controlling cough. Garlic is an antioxidant and is very good for our health.


Turmeric

Turmeric is a natural antiseptic and has healing power. It provides immunity to the body and helps your body to fight against infection. You can add half spoon of turmeric in a cup of warm milk and give it to your child. You can also add small amount of turmeric in one spoon of honey and give to your child. Both of these methods are equally effective in cough.


Humidifier

Put a humidifier in your child’s room. This will help your child to breathe well without any irritation. You can out it on during sleeping time, so that your child can have a sound sleep.


Eucalyptus Balm

Rub a small amount of eucalyptus balm on your kid’s chest during napping time. Its vapours help in clearing the nasal passage and helps breathe well. Eucalyptus oil can also be used for your kid. You can out some eucalyptus oil on a handkerchief and put it near your child’s nose when he is sleeping. This will provide relief in cold in cough.
