Dermatitis is a condition of the skin, wherein the symptoms range from inflammation, swelling, burning sensation, redness and itching. It can affect your scalp or any other part of the body. At times it manifests itself as blisters, crusting and scaling. 

There may be many causes behind dermatitis namely, allergic reaction, lifestyle, indigestion, nutritional deficiencies and environment. People who have dry skin have higher chances of suffering from dermatitis than others. There are plenty of items in your home which can be used to treat dermatitis.

Home Remedies For Dermatitis

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apply it directly at the place which is affected by dermatitis. Let it be there for a few more minutes and then wash it just with water. Whether dermatitis has attacked your scalp or any other part of your body including your face, ACV can help you get rid of it.

ACV balances the pH value of the body. Though ACV is an acid, its effect on the body is alkaline. Additionally, one can benefit by drinking a teaspoon of ACV mixed with water twice a day.


Chamomile

Chamomile flowers have multiple therapeutic properties, dermatitis is just one of those ailments which it heals. You can make an infusion of the flowers of chamomile and use it to apply on the dermatitis affected area. This infusion is known to have a soothing effect on the skin, and will gradually get you relief from dermatitis symptoms.

To make this infusion take a handful of flowers, put them in a bowl full of water, bring this to a boil and let it boil for ten minutes. All the goodness of chamomile flowers will get transferred to this liquid. Soak a cloth in this liquid and apply it on the affected parts.


Vitamin E

Vitamin E oil helps in rejuvenating the skin. You can buy vitamin E capsules form a medical store. Break open one of them and take a drop or two of the liquid vitamin E, or more if required.

Rub it gently over the area that has dermatitis. In addition, the food items that contain vitamin E should be eaten. Peanut butter, corn, wheat germ oil, spinach, mustard leaves, almonds and cayenne pepper are some of the foods that contain vitamin E.


Oatmeal

Oatmeal proves to be a helpful remedy for dermatitis. Oatmeal bath is prescribed as a home remedy for many skin ailments. To make this bath you can add a handful of oatmeal powder to lukewarm bathing water.

Bathe for 15-20 minutes in this water. Oatmeal helps to retain moisture in your skin. Repeat this every day for desired results. It’s better to start this remedy at the first sign of appearance of dermatitis.


Bilberries

Bilberries are used as natural cures for dermatitis. To make bilberry water you need 50 gms of bilberries and one liter of water. Warm this water with bilberries added to it. Now let it steep for one hour.

This liquid acts as a cleanser. You can use it to cleanse the affected parts twice or thrice a day. This is helpful to ward off infection of the skin.


Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is considered as one of the simplest and best home remedies for dermatitis. Dermatologists prescribe using warm pure coconut oil for dermatitis. Massage the affected parts with virgin coconut oil that has been warmed.

Massage it for 10 minutes twice a day. You can wash your hair with a mild shampoo after using coconut oil. Even if your dermatitis patches are oozing, coconut oil can heal them in a few days.
