Painful menstruation, also known as Dysmenorrhea literally implies ‘difficult menstruation’. Every month during menstruation, when the uterine lining is shed, the uterus contracts, these contractions can be quite painful in women suffering from dysmenorrhea. Pain could be localized in the lower abdomen area, but it can radiate down the thighs, in the vulva or lower back as well.

This wave like throbbing pain is usually accompanied by diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, dizziness or headache. The pain could begin 24 hours before menstruation and can last for almost 48 hours. Fortunately, there are several home remedies that will help you to get back to normal.
