6 Home Remedies For Sensitive Teeth

Teeth sensitivity is caused in case the protective enamel that is around the pair of tooth in your mouth gets eroded and the nerve endings beneath the teeth get uncovered. Symptoms for the teeth sensitivity include sharp pain while eating or drinking some cold, hot, sour or sweet stuff. The symptoms also include the feeling of pain while the teeth get in contact with air or while breathing.

Causes of sensitive teeth include using a toothbrush with hard-bristle, aggressive brushing of the teeth and formation of plaque or bacteria inside the mouth or by the products of teeth whitening. There are several home remedies available that help magically to treat the sensitive teeth easily and inexpensively.


6 Effective Home Remedies For Sensitive Teeth

Rock Salt And Mustard Oil

Take one tablespoon of rock salt and one tablespoon of mustard oil. Apply both the ingredients on the teeth and massage gently by using your index finger. After massaging, leave it for a period of 5 minutes and finally rinse the mouth with pure water.


Salt

Heat one glass of water until it is lukewarm and then add 2 tablespoons of normal salt to the water. Mix them well and then rinse the mouth with the solution of salt and water 2 times a day; once in the early morning and once before going to bed at night.


Clove Oil

Take a ball of cotton and pour some clove oil in it and place the ball over the sensitive teeth. Bite the ball so as to keep it in position. Clove oil is analgesic and can treat the teeth sensitivity quite well. The clove oil can also be mixed with olive oil for better results.


Garlic With Rock Salt

Take a clove of garlic and crush it and then mix a little rock salt to it. Place it over the sensitive teeth and leave for 20 to 25 minutes. Repeat the process 2 to 3 times every day. You may also chew the garlic clove. Garlic possesses the property of an antibiotic and thus helps reducing teeth sensitivity.


Vanilla Extract

Vanilla extract has alcohol in it which helps to numb the gums. The essential oil, Eugenol, present in the pure vanilla extract act as an analgesic and antiseptic for the teeth. Put 2 to 3 drops of the extract on the sensitive teeth or you can also rub the extract over the sensitive teeth using your fingers. The extract can also be soaked in a cotton ball and applied to the sensitive teeth.


Asafoetida With Lemon Juice

Asafoetida contains vitamins and minerals that help to increase the strength of the teeth. Grind the Asafoetida and add juice of lemon to it. Heat the mixture and soak a ball of cotton in the liquid formed. Put the soaked ball over the sensitive teeth to get instant relief form sensitivity.

In addition to the above home remedies for teeth sensitivity, you also need to follow some simple tips to stay away from sensitivity and pain. You should brush the teeth gently and hold the brush like a pen and not as a weapon while brushing. Brushing twice a day is a must.
