Take A Hot Shower

When you suffer from sinus congestion the nasal passages in your skull gets blocked. So it becomes important to clear it. One way to do it is to stand below a hot shower and inhale in the vapors or steam. When you do so your body gets heated up which in turn softens the blocked mucous passages and you feel relived.


Eat More Spicy Food

This could be tempting if you love spices. When you eat spicy food your mucous membranes open up because of the pungent smell and taste it produces within your mouth. This will help in clearing the mucous too.

If you wish you can sniff raw onions too. Raw onions are helpful in the sense the Sulphur content in it will produce the pungency required to clear the blocked mucous membrane. You can also eat raw garlic which is a good antibiotic.


Use Nasal Sprays

Using nasal sprays you can clear nasal passages. You can use a dropper or a syringe to put a few drops of the nasal spray into your nostrils. Take it in. After a few minutes you will feel that your blocked airway has got cleared.

The saline solution present in the nasal drip is known to kill the bacteria in your nose and shrink the blocked blood vessels of the affected nasal membrane. This helps in steady flushing out of the stale secretions.


Drink Water in Good Amounts

Water has many good properties. One of the important properties is that it keeps your body hydrated. So when you suffer from nasal congestion you need to drink as much water as you can in regular intervals.

You might have to visit the toilet frequently but your blocked nasal passages will get cleared.


Keep Your Head Elevated

This you can do when you are preparing to go off to sleep. You can use two or three pillows to keep your head elevated. You can put in a few drops of nasal spray before going off to sleep. This will help you to breathe freely thus letting the mucus to drain freely.


Take Vitamin C Enriched Products

Vitamin C is known to fight cold. So when you have sinus congestion you need to eat more of oranges, lemon juice, amla and other vitamin C containing food products.

You can also take tablets containing vitamin C. This will help in making your immune system stronger that gets weekend because of the viruses and bacteria present in your nasal page.
