Natural Cure For Flu

Share

Flu is a viral infection, which is highly contagious. Some common symptoms of flu include chills, aches, nasal congestion, sore throat, cough and fever. Though there are prescription medicines available to treat this condition, in most cases, you can get rid of flu just by using some simple natural remedies. Following are some of the best natural ways to treat mild to moderate flu.

Natural Cure For Flu

Chicken Soup

Chicken soup is probably the most popular natural remedy to knock out flu. The best thing about this powerful natural anti-viral is that it brings very fast relief. In fact, besides relieving fever, cough and other flu symptoms, drinking chicken soup also supplies your body with antibiotics, herbicides and growth hormones.

This way, it does not just treat flu but also prevents other diseases by enhancing your body’s natural ability to fight against infections.

Mullein Tea

You can prepare mullein tea by steeping dried mullein in one cup of hot water for ten to fifteen minutes. You can also add some raw honey to sweeten the mixture for better taste. Drink this tea 2-3 times a day. It will soothe sore throats and will act as an expectorant. It also relieves chest congestion, one of the most painful symptoms of flu.

Raw Honey And Red Onion

Wash one full onion, peel it and then slice it horizontally. Now, reconstruct the onion by layering it again one by one, starting from the bottom, but this time, you have to add a thick layer of raw onion on the top of every slice. Put this reconstructed onion mixed with raw honey in a bowl and cover it. Do it at night before your bedtime. The next morning, after around 12-15 hours, remove the cover of the ball and filter the liquid (a thick syrup of raw honey mixed with onion) in a cup. Take one tsp. of this syrup 3-4 times a day until the symptoms of flu disappear. This natural syrup fights viral infections and relieves chest congestion, fever and cough.

Garlic Tea

Garlic is also a natural anti-viral and anti-bacterial that strengthens your immune system. Drinking fresh garlic tea can provide you great relief from flu, cough and cold. You can prepare garlic tea by simmering 2-3 crushed cloves of garlic in two cups of boiling water for fifteen minutes. Filter the liquid and drink it three times daily. It will bring down your temperature and will also relieve chest congestion. To improve its taste, you can also consider adding raw honey in it.

Raw Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is one of the most popular natural healing agents for flu and cold. Mix two tsp. of raw apple cider vinegar in ¼ glass of purified water. Drink this mixture three times everyday. After drinking this mixture, you are also advised to drink one extra glass of purified water to rinse the acid from your mouth.

Alternatively, you can also consider sprinkling some raw apple cider vinegar on your bed and pillows before you sleep at night. This way, you will be inhaling the fumes throughout the night, even during your sleep.

Both the remedies are very effective in relieving cold, fever and other symptoms of flu. If used consistently, these simple natural remedies can treat the condition completely within less than a week.

Turmeric

When it comes to pushing out viral and antibacterial infections from your body, the strong antimicrobial properties of turmeric can also prove to be very helpful. To relieve sore throat and coughing, you can take a mixture of 2 tbsp. of raw honey and ½ tsp. of turmeric two times daily until the symptoms disappear. To relieve cold and fever, you can mix 1.4 teaspoon of turmeric in one cup of warm water. Alternatively, you can simply take turmeric capsules that are widely available at most health food stores.

Lemon, Black Pepper And Ginger

Mix the juice of half lemon in half glass of warm water. Drinking this mixture three to four times daily can relieve all the symptoms of mild flu in just 4-5 days. However, if you are suffering from a more severe condition, such as mucus-ridden cold, you should mix a pinch of powdered ginger and black pepper also in the lemon water. This remedy provides enough vitamin C to your body and purifies the lymphatic system, which enhances your body’s natural ability to fight against viral infections.

Deficiency of vitamin C is a major factor that allows flu and cold to stay longer. Taking vitamin C supplement, therefore, is also advisable if you are suffering from cold that is not going away easily.

Mustard

Inhaling mustard through its vapors is also an effective natural cure for flu. The anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties of mustard can fight against viral infections very well.

Pepper And Honey

Mix one tbsp. of honey and one tsp. of black pepper in one cup of boiling water. Leave it for ten to fifteen minutes. Stir it thoroughly after that. Sipping it in small quantity several times a day can be very helpful in relieving cough, fever, cold and other symptoms of flu.

Echinacea

You can drink Echinacea tea or just take three drops of its tincture mixed in one cup of warm water. Echinacea contains powerful anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties, which make it a very potent blood purifier as well as an immune booster. Due to viral infections, the blood becomes overly toxic that eventually causes fever, cough and other symptoms of flu. Echinacea purifies the blood and helps in eliminating those toxins from your body. This remedy also increases the count of white blood cells in your body that eventually boost your immune system.

Oregano Oil

The anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties of oregano oil have also been found to be very beneficial in relieving inflammation and congestion caused by flu. However, instead of taking oregano oil directly, you are advised to take it in the form of capsules. You can buy the capsules directly from a health food store. Alternatively, you can buy a capsule cover and fill nine drops of oregano oil in it. Take one capsule (9 drops) 3 times a day, after your regular meals on a full stomach.

For optimum benefits out of the above natural remedies for flu, you must avoid white flour, artificial sweeteners, excessive sugar, beverages or foods prepared in microwave oven, coffee, alcohol and milk and other dairy products. In addition to all that, you must also get plenty of rest.
