7 Cure For Hives

Share

Hives refer to a skin condition, where you can experience sudden outbreaks of clusters of red, itchy and raised welts on your skin. These welts look like tiny goose bumps, but sometimes, they can turn into severely itching rashes covering more areas on the body. This condition is generally caused by allergic reactions caused by extreme pollution, exposure to pollen and animal dander (especially cats).

Though hives can affect any part of the body, face is usually the main target spot. In general, hives go away in a few days without any treatment, but in many cases, it can stay for weeks, especially when remain untreated. Following are some very popular ways to cure hives naturally.

Cure For Hives

Milk Of Magnesia

The alkaline nature of the milk of magnesia has been found to be very effective in relieving burning and itching sensation caused by hives. You can apply it on the welts using a clean cotton ball.

Fresh Basil Decoction

Boil one quart of water for 10-15 minutes. Add one ounce of dried basil leaves in it. After twenty minutes, strain the liquid and apply it over the areas affected with hives. It is a very effective natural antidote for hives that can provide you quick relief from itchiness and redness.

Milk

Soak a soft, clean cotton cloth in milk and apply it gently over the hives. Do it for fifteen minutes, once or twice daily. It soothes the discomforts caused by hives and speeds up the healing process.

Ice

Pack some crushed ice cubes in a soft towel and apply it gently on the welts. You can also rub an ice cube directly over the welts. It alleviates swelling and redness by causing the blood vessels to shrink. You can use this remedy for five minutes, 3-4 times daily. You can also consider taking a cool shower by mixing ice in your bathtub water. It will help you feel a lot better.

Oatmeal Paste

Mix oatmeal with water to form a thick paste. Apply it gently on the welts and leave it for 15-20 minutes. After twenty minutes, the paste turns hard. You can then wash it off with cold water. This is an instant cure for hives and provides quick relief.

Oatmeal Bath

Add one cup of oatmeal in a bathtub filled with warm water. Soaking in this mixture for around half an hour will provide you great relief from itchiness on the welts. It also reduces the size of the welts. If you use this oatmeal bath remedy once daily, the hives can disappear completely within just 3-4 days.

Baking Soda Bath

You can also use baking soda in place of oatmeal for similar effects. Just make sure the water in the bathtub is lukewarm, not very hot.

Hives can be cured faster provided you take certain precautions while using natural remedies. For example, you should avoid excessive exposure of hives to the sun. Also, you should avoid foods and beverages that can aggravate the condition of hives, such as tomatoes, cheese, chocolates, eggs, soy products, shellfish, cherries, nuts, peanuts, strawberries, poultry products, refined foods, alcohol, coffee and tea.
