Ringworm is a type of skin infection, characterized by inflammation, pain, swelling and lots of itchiness on the affected areas. Those who have a weak immune system are more likely to develop ringworms, especially when they spend a lot of time in crowded and dirty areas or in the areas with lots of humidity and dampness.Following are some of the most effective ways to treat ringworms naturally.
Soak a cotton ball in a few drops of tea tree oil and dab the areas affected with ringworm gently. It may cause a little more itching, but this remedy kills the bacteria that are causing the infection.
For faster relief, you can also consider adding a few drops of olive oil or coconut oil along with tea tree oil.
Cut a few pieces of green walnuts and extract the juice. Rubbing this juice on the ringworms can also be very effective in relieving itchiness and inflammation.
You can extract the juice from fig leaves by simply breaking the leaves. Let the white juice drop on the ringworm patches. Then, spread the juice on the affected areas gently using a fresh cotton ball.
You can use this remedy several times a day until the ringworms disappear completely.
Soak a clean cotton ball in vinegar and dab the infected areas 3-4 times daily. In some cases, ringworms tend to re-appear from time to time. If you are suffering from this condition, you are advised to make it a habit to rub some vinegar daily on those skin areas that often get infected with ringworms. It will prevent ringworms from re-appearing.
Rub the extracts of grapefruit seeds gently on the ringworm patches as well as the surrounding areas. Cover it with a band-aid. Applying full-strength extracts on ringworms may cause a little irritation on the skin, but it cures the infection faster.
The grapefruit seed extracts sold in herbal food stores usually contain 50% glycerol. If you are using these extracts, it will not cause any irritation on skin, but will cure the infection a little slower.
Herbal food stores sell bath salts that contain high concentration of sea salt. Soak a clean cotton ball in purified water and wet the ringworm patches and the surrounding areas. Now, apply the bath salt directly on those areas. It does not cause any irritation, but you may feel a mild tingling sensation. Leave the application of bath salt for half an hour. This way, the ringworm patches will get dried up. After 30 minutes, wash it with cold water. If you use this remedy once daily, you can get rid of ringworm in just 3-4 days.
Mix one cup each of spinach juice and carrot juice together. Drink this juice two times daily for faster relief from ringworm.
The juice extracted from cassia leaves or a paste prepared by grinding the leaves with water can also be applied on the ringworm patches. This remedy relieves swelling and pain caused by the infection.
The above mentioned natural remedies for ringworms are generally considered as safe, but if your symptoms also include high fever, you are advised to consult your doctor first.
