6 Cure For Sinus Headaches

Sinus headaches are due to the problem of sinusitis which can be due to any kind of allergies or infections. In sinusitis, inflammation in the cavities of the human face occurs and it gives severe pain and if this pain is not treated on time then it aggravates.

This problem is common when a person gets cough and cold. It gives severe pain in the front area of the head. The symptoms are however similar to the problem of stress headaches and migraines. Usually this type of headache occurs in the morning. Here are some effective natural cures to get rid of this problem.


Natural Cure for Sinus Headaches

Inhale Steam

Steam helps to open the sinuses responsible for chest congestion and any other blockages .Steam can be taken in different ways that suits you like using a facial steamer, from a boiling water in a vessel or it can be taken by closing all the doors of the bathroom and turning the hot water shower on and inhaling the steam.

Other ways is to sink into your bathtub of hot water and cover your head with a towel to create a tent and inhale to get the steam.


Aromatherapy

The essential oils used in aromatherapy are very good to give relief from the sinus pressure and headaches. To take the benefit of this, all you need to do is to add different essential oils into the water and take steam from them to get immediate relief. Some of the essential oils that are very good to use in aromatherapy are eucalyptus, peppermint and rosemary oils.


Applying Moist Heat

Moist heat can be applied safely onto the face and it will cure the symptoms of the sinus headache. Now to take the benefit of moist heat, take a cloth and dip it into warm water and wring it. 

After wringing it, keep it on the areas you are feeling sinus pressure, commonly the sinus pressure is on the back part of the the or in the teeth so it should be kept over these places particularly.


Intake of water

You should increase the intake of water as water helps to keep you hydrated. These fluids converts the thick mucus of the nose into thin and it can be flown out easily from the nose. But intake of water should not be taken as taking any fluid like tea, coffee or other caffeinated beverages as caffeine is a diuretic and it loses more fluids out from the body.


Adequate sleep

Lack of sleep aggravates the problem of sinus headaches. So have adequate sleep. Sleep contributes to reduce the inflammation of the cavities. All other types of cure will give results only when you are taking enough sleep.


Acupressure

Acupressure is an effective measure to cure many problems. When this technique is used for sinus headaches then the pressure points located above the nostrils should be pressed. The fingertips of two middle fingers should be used to press the area between the eyebrows and nose. In case you don’t have knowledge of acupressure and don’t want to take help from expert then massage can be done on the sinus cavities.

    I have severe headaches in the morning when I wake up. I have to go from bed to a chair and sit up for 3-5 hours before the headache goes away. I've been to the VA Doctor, and he only knows anti histamines. It does not work, maybe just very slightly, but also has side effects. In the bed, I lie down using pillows to keep my head elevated, If I lie flat, it's difficult to breath. Sometimes the headaches last so long that I have no energy, and feel wobbly. I've tried steam, but it only works slightly for as long as
    I'm applying it. I wake up in the night and need to drink water, because of very very Dry Mouth, I drink the water several times a night. . It's not sleep apnea, as I've been tested for that. Does anyone have similar or any suggestions.
