Though it is very much possible to cure stomach ulcers using natural remedies, it takes time to cure it completely. In general, you will have to be consistent with the following remedies for several months in order to achieve optimum benefits.
Bananas are probably the best natural medicine for stomach ulcers. When you eat lots of bananas, it increases the production of mucus in the stomach and makes the stomach wall thicker.
This eventually creates a barrier between the lining of your stomach and digestive acids. In addition to that, the natural ingredients found in bananas also restrict and reduce the growth of H.pylori bacteria that causes ulcers.
Drinking raw cabbage juice or eating raw cabbage is another excellent way to cure stomach ulcers naturally. In order to add taste, you can also consider mixing some carrot juice in it. Drink one cup of this mixture while it is fresh three times a day, before every meal. You are also advised to drink it one more time right before you go to sleep. Many medical studies go as far as in saying that just eating bananas and drinking fresh raw cabbage juice daily can cure stomach ulcers in just 2-3 weeks.
The best thing about cayenne pepper is that it does not just heal the ulcers but it also relieves the pain caused by it. The easiest way to use this natural remedy is to take cayenne capsules three times daily, preferably just after your regular meals.
Though cayenne capsules are available widely in most health food stores, if you cannot find it, an alternative way is to mix a quarter tsp. of cayenne pepper in one glass of water. Drink this mixture three times a day. However, it is important to note that this herb is very strong in taste. So, it will most likely take some time for you to get used to it.
Mix 1 tsp. of powdered bark of slippery elm in half glass of water. Take this herbal medicine 2-3 times daily. The natural ingredients found in slippery elm bark can be very effective in soothing the mucous membranes on duodenum and stomach.
Drinking fenugreek tea has also been found to be very beneficial in the treatment of stomach ulcers.
Since fenugreek tea is very mucilaginous, it coats the intestines and the stomach, which eventually does not only heal ulcers but also prevents its further development.
Taking too much stress about anything, be it your work, family or just your disease, can worsen your condition and even the remedies and medications you are using might not be as effective as they are supposed to be. By controlling and reducing your stress level, you can easily speed up the healing process of the stomach ulcers. Do yoga, learn to meditate, take stress management courses – just do anything that can help you get rid of stress.
In order to get maximum benefits out of the above natural remedies for ulcers, you must also avoid eating and drinking certain things that can aggravate your condition. Your to-avoid list should include hot and spicy foods, sugar, citrus juices, alcohol, coffee and even milk.
