UTI infections are also referred to as urinary tract infections. Though this type of condition can affect both men and women, women generally are more susceptible to this disease. The most common symptom of UTI infection is that you feel the urge to urinate very frequently, but when you go to the washroom, very little amount of urine comes out with a strong burning sensation.

Other symptoms that often accompany with this condition include back pain, chills and fever. It is mainly caused due to a type of bacterial infection in the digestive tract that blocks the opening of urethra. Following are some of the most popular remedies to treat UTI infections naturally.


Natural Cure for UTI Infections

Rose and Lotus Petals

Prepare a decoction by boiling equal quantities of rose and lotus petals in water. Filter the liquid, and once it cools down, take one ounce of it 2-3 times daily.

Brinjal Leaves

You can prepare a decoction by using brinjal leaves in a similar way. Taking one ounce of this decoction two times daily is another powerful natural remedy for UTI infections.


Sandalwood, Juniper and Tea Tree Oil

Another effective remedy is to rub a mixture of sandalwood oil, juniper oil and tea tree oil gently over the lower abdominal region. Use this remedy at least once daily.


Juice Extracted from Banana Stems

Consuming ΒΌ cup of juice extracted from banana stems, at least once a day, can also be an effective natural cure for UTI infections.


A Mixture of Apple Juice and Cranberry Juice

Mix equal quantities of apple juice and cranberry juice. Drink one cup of this mixture at least two times daily. It prevents the bacteria from sticking to the cells lining the urinary tract.


Radish, Sugarcane, Carrot, Coconut and Lemon Juices

You can also mix equal quantity of the juices of radish, sugarcane, carrot, coconut and lemon. Drink one cup of the mixture at least 2-3 times daily. It provides your body with powerful antioxidants, which can be very effective in killing the alien bacteria that causes UTI infection.


Baking Soda

Add one tsp. of baking soda in one glass of water. Stir the mixture thoroughly and drink it at least once daily. It relieves the burning sensation by neutralizing the acidity in the urine.


Dietary Changes

You must drink plenty of water, more than you usually do. The usual recommendation is to drink 7-8 glasses of water daily. To treat UTI infections effectively, you should drink at least 15-16 glasses daily. It will obviously cause you to urinate more, which is good because it clears the urinary tract passage. It relives burning sensation and also helps in flushing the bacteria out.

Consume foods that are rich in vitamin C, such as watermelons, papaya, tomatoes, raspberries, pineapples, melons, kiwifruits, guavas and bananas. Vitamin C acidifies urine, which helps in relieving the symptoms of UTI infections.

Things to avoid include soda, beer, carbonated drinks, cigarettes, alcohol, artificial sweeteners, chocolates, cheese, spicy foods, coffee and tea. All these things are known to promote the growth of UTI-causing bacteria.

Besides using the above natural remedies for UTI infections, you must also take certain precautions. For example, you must keep your genitals clean and avoid public toilets or other such unhygienic conditions.
