The problem of cellulite is also known as “Adiposis Edematosa’’, “Status Protrusus Cutis’’ and “Cottage Cheese Skin’’. It is one of the most common skin problems and is frequently found in women. It usually affects the upper arms, thighs, abdomen, buttock and hip area.
Some of the factors responsible for this problem include fat accumulation, hormonal changes, lack of blood circulation, genetics and excessive consumption of food items rich in carbohydrates. Lumpy skin is a common symptom of cellulite. Various natural cures can be used to deal with the symptoms of this skin problem.
A natural scrub can be created by mixing coffee powder (half cup) with brown sugar (1/4th cup) and rubbed on the affected area on a daily basis to reduce the problem. It is advisable for an individual to apply olive oil on the affected area before scrubbing. The scrub should be rubbed in the circular motion. Grinded coffee (1/4th cup) can be brewed in water and mixed with olive oil (2 tablespoons) to create a paste. Massaging the affected area with this paste can increase the blood circulation. This paste should be removed with water after 30 to 40 minutes..
Exercise can reduce the risk of fat formation which may result in the problem of cellulite. Running, swimming, skipping, cycling and climbing stairs can help in improving the blood circulation.
Strengthening exercises such as squats, lunges and dumbbell exercises can also provide the desired results. These exercises should be performed multiple times in a week.
Apple cider vinegar can be used in the treatment of cellulite. A mixture made with the use of apple cider vinegar and olive oil can be massaged on the affected area for 15 to 20 minutes on a regular basis to get relief from the symptoms. Another alternative is to drink a combination of apple cider vinegar (2 teaspoons), honey (1 tablespoon) and water (half cup) on a daily basis to treat the skin problem.
Vitamin A and vitamin C can increase the production of collagen which may reduce the appearance of dimples on the skin. Vitamin E can help in flushing out the fat from the body. Vitamin B has anti-cellulite properties. Intake of vitamin B2 and vitamin B6 can provide relief from the symptoms resulting from hormonal changes.
Food items rich in these vitamins can be consumed to prevent the growth of the skin problem. The sources of these vitamins include milk, pumpkin, cantaloupe, egg, kiwi, blackberry and leafy vegetables.
Different types of essential oils have anti-cellulite properties. Use of these oils can stimulate the blood circulation and clear the excess fat. A combination of yarrow and carrot seed oil can be applied on the affected part of the body on a frequent basis to reduce the problem. Another option is to rub a mixture of carrier and hazelnut oil. Massaging the affected area with a mixture of rosemary, lemon and fennel seed oil for 10 to 15 minutes on a regular basis can also provide effective results.
