8 Cures To Motion Sickness

Many individuals suffer from the problem of motion sickness. It is also referred to as “Kinetosis”. This problem is generally experienced at the time of traveling. Therefore, it is also known as “Travel Sickness”.

It is important to note that around 33% of the people are affected by this problem in normal circumstances. Common symptoms of this problem include nausea, vomiting, sweating and dizziness. The symptoms associated with this problem can be treated with the use of different types of natural remedies.


Natural Cure for Motion Sickness

Ginger

Ginger can be used to relieve motion sickness. You can use ginger in powdered form to absorb acids in the stomach and control the feeling of nausea. Intake of ginger extract 3 to 4 times on a daily basis can also help in dealing with the symptoms.

It is essential to note that raw ginger should not be taken. A few pieces of crushed ginger can be boiled in water to prepare tea. Ginger tea can be consumed as and when the need arises.


Raspberry

Raspberry leaf is another effective natural remedy. You can directly use raspberry leaf or mix it with ginger to create a natural tonic. Drinking this tonic can provide relief from the problem of nausea caused by motion sickness.


Peppermint

The problem can also be treated with the use of peppermint. Peppermint leaf can be boiled in water to prepare tea. You can consume peppermint tea multiple times to treat dizziness and nausea.

Fresh mint leaves can also be chewed. A few drops of peppermint oil can be placed on the inside part of the wrist and inhaled. Peppermint should be used as per the instructions of your health consultant.


Diet

You should consume low fat food items before leaving for a trip. Further, it is advisable to have a small meal. You should completely avoid intake of spicy, greasy or fatty food items. Additionally, you should drink plenty of water to minimize the occurrence of the symptoms associated with the problem. Intake of alcohol should also be reduced.


Black Horehound

Black horehound has been used traditionally to obtain relief from the symptoms of motion sickness.

You can take black horehound tincture. Tea prepared by boiling leaves of black horehound can also be consumed for effective results.


Olives and Lemons

Excess saliva may be produced as a result of motion sickness. You can eat olives to keep your mouth dry. Olives can help in reducing the production of saliva. You can suck a lemon or drink fresh lemon juice to get relief.


Sesame

Sesame can be used as a natural cure. You can eat a mixture of sesame seeds and sea salt (1 teaspoon). To obtain best results, it is important to chew the mixture before swallowing it.


Juice

Drinking apple juice before leaving for a trip can also help in controlling the symptoms of motion sickness. You can consume any other non-citrus juice to get the desired results. It is important to note that the consumption of citrus juice can irritate an already upset stomach.
