The problem of receding gums is also referred to as “Gingival Recession’’. It is frequently found in people over the age of 40 years. It is caused by factors such as aggressive brushing, bacterial build up, consumption of tobacco and improper oral hygiene.It may result in red or inflamed gums, pain, change in teeth colour, sensitive teeth, gum bleeding, bad breath and so on. Various natural cures to treat this problem are mentioned below.
Sage is also known as “Salvia Officinalis’’. You can rub sage leaves on the gums to obtain relief.
You can also create a solution by boiling sage leaves in water and apply this solution on the gums with the help of a cotton ball several times in a day. This solution can also be used for rinsing the mouth.
Clove has anti-inflammatory properties. You can apply clove oil on the affected areas to reduce the pain resulting from receding gums.
You can also prepare a mouthwash by boiling cloves and cinnamon bark in fresh water for 15 to 20 minutes and rinse your mouth with this solution. It is advisable to keep this solution in the refrigerator and use it for a minimum period of 1 week.
Sesame oil may prevent bacterial formation which may lead to the problem of receding gums. You can swish sesame oil (2 to 3 teaspoons) in the mouth for a minute. This remedy should be used for a period of 2 to 3 weeks.
You can rub fresh aloe vera gel on the gums. You can also create a mixture with the use of aloe vera gel (1 tablespoon) and witch hazel (1 teaspoon) and apply this mixture on the gums to treat various symptoms.

Eucalyptus essential oil can be used in the treatment of receding gums. It has antimicrobial properties which can help in killing the bacteria responsible for tartar and plaque build up.
You need to mix this oil (6 to 7 drops) in a cup of water and massage your gums with this mixture on a regular basis to get the desired results.
Another natural remedy is rose vinegar. You can rinse your mouth with a mixture of roses and vinegar to strengthen your gums. This mixture can be prepared by keeping fresh rose petals in a pint jar and covering the petals with red wine vinegar.
To obtain effective results, this mixture should be used after a period of 6 to 7 days. You can add rose vinegar to a glass of warm water and use it on a weekly basis.
Tea tree oil can be mixed with water and used as a mouthwash multiple times in a day. This remedy can help in killing the bacteria and provide relief from various problems such as bad breath, plaque and inflamed gums.
You can brush your teeth with a toothpaste containing a few drops of tea tree oil. You should not swallow tea tree oil. It is essential to clean your mouth with cold water after using tea tree oil.
