Natural Treatments for Gastritis

Share

Gastritis is a condition that causes inflammation or infection on the lining of the stomach due to increased secretion of gastric acid. If not treated timely, it can even lead to stomach ulcer. The lining of the stomach can wear down and lead to bleeding. This condition gets aggravated more by constipation. The people affected by anemia (severe iron deficiency), surgery and burns are more prone to developing gastritis.

Excessive alcohol consumption and over consumption of painkillers can also cause gastritis by irritating the gastrointestinal tract. The common symptoms that are seen in most gastritis patients include headache, appetite loss, nausea, vomiting, indigestion and bloating. Some patients complain of abdominal pain, feeling of fullness in the abdomen or heart burn after eating. Eating too much spicy, oily and improperly cooked foods, overeating on a regular basis, and over-intake of strong tea, coffee and alcoholic beverages can cause gastritis.

Natural Treatments for Gastritis

Traditional treatments for gastritis involve expensive medications that can have unwanted side effects, while natural treatment is quite safe and effective. The treatment for gastritis involves reduction of stomach acids, which can be cured at home using some simple and natural treatments. Here are some effective natural treatments for gastritis:

Parsley Tea

One of the best natural treatments for gastritis is drinking Parsley tea. For preparing parsley tea, chop some parsley roots finely and soak them in a cup of hot water for 15 minutes.

Strain and drink the tea. Drink at least twice a day for two or three days for getting complete relief.

Ginger and Potato Juice

If you experience stomach ache or indigestion after meals, prepare a juice by combining one whole potato and one teaspoon of fresh ginger using a blender. Drink the juice half an hour before every meal. These will soothe the stomach and relieve you from other discomforts.

Cabbage, Carrot or Beetroot Juice

Cabbage juice is highly beneficial for a patient of gastritis. It can prevent formation of stomach ulcer by protecting the stomach lining. In the same way, beetroot juice is equally effective, if consumed on empty stomach.

To get rid of gastritis completely, drink fresh carrot juice every morning for a month. You can also drink carrot juice combined with spinach juice to get relief from gastritis.

Coconut Water

A popular natural remedy for gastritis is drinking coconut water every day for few days on empty stomach. This remedy will soothe the lining of the stomach and will also bring relief from all other symptoms of gastritis.

Carom Seeds

Chewing 1 teaspoon of carom seeds (Ajwain) with a pinch of salt brings instant relief when symptoms of gastritis flare up.

This natural treatment has been used as a popular home treatment for centuries to treat indigestion, vomiting and formation of gas.

Herbal Tea

Drinking some herbal teas, like mint tea, yarrow tea or chamomile tea can soothe the digestive organ and help you get relief from stomach pain and indigestion. Drinking licorice tea can also bring relief. Add half a teaspoon of licorice to a cup of boiling water and steep for 15 minutes. Drink this tea after straining to suppress pain.

Modification in Diet

Gastritis can become worse if you continue to eat an unhealthy diet. Eating a simple and nutritious diet can prevent gastritis to a great extent. Drink lots of water and fruit juice every day. Refrain from eating spicy and oily dishes. Eat lot of curds, boiled rice, juicy fruits and vegetables.
