Inflammation
is a natural response of the body to an injury and infection. This medical condition is caused by factors such as arthritis, hormonal imbalance, stress, allergic reaction, chemical sensitivity, weak immune system, bacterial, viral and fungal infections.

Pain, swelling, redness, burning sensation and immobility are some common symptoms associated with this problem. Inflammation can be acute (short termed) or chronic (long termed). A person can use different types of natural treatments to obtain relief from inflammation.


7 Natural Treatments For Inflammation

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is anti-inflammatory in nature. Regular consumption of aloe vera juice can reduce the inflammation caused by arthritis, sports injury, insect bites, peptic ulcer, Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis and so on. A person can apply aloe vera gel multiple times in a week to obtain the desired results. A mixture of aloe vera gel and honey/tea tree oil can also be used in the treatment.


Ginger

‘’Zingiber Officianale’’ is the botanical name of ginger. Fresh ginger root can be boiled in water to prepare a natural tonic and consumed several times per day to relieve the medical condition.

The symptoms such as inflammation, pain and redness can be cured with the application of a poultice made by mixing ginger powder and hot water on a frequent basis. Ginger is not recommended for a person taking blood thinning medications.


Turmeric

Turmeric is one of the most effective natural treatments. The inflammation resulting from ulcerative colitis, arthritis, eye disease and injury can be treated with the consumption of turmeric powder. A mixture of turmeric powder and mustard oil can be rubbed on the affected area several times on a weekly basis. Another option is to drink a cup of warm milk containing turmeric powder before sleeping.


Vitamins

Vitamin E can reduce the risk of the development of various inflammatory diseases like heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease and arthritis. Vitamin C and vitamin E can be used as anti-inflammatory agents.

The inflammation associated with gingivitis and asthma can be relieved with the consumption of vitamin D. Vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 can also protect the brain from the effects of certain inflammatory diseases. The sources of these vitamins include green leafy vegetables, milk, egg, fortified cereals and fish.


Rosemary

Rosemary extract can be consumed on a regular basis to deal with the problem. A person can dilute rosemary with olive oil and use this mixture to massage the affected area to reduce the inflammation and pain.


Cold or Heat Therapy

A few ice cubes can be wrapped in a small towel and placed on the affected area for a few minutes to obtain instant relief from the medical condition. Cold water bath can also help in the treatment.

A person can soak cotton cloth in hot water and place it on the painful area to relieve the inflammation, pain and swelling. Heat therapy should not be used by patients suffering from diabetes.


Chamomile

Frequent intake of chamomile tea can treat the inflammation caused by hemorrhoids. A person suffering from asthma should not use this treatment.
