Knee injury is mainly caused by an impact, awkward movement, twist, fall or even a blow. The gradual wear and tear or continuous stress to the knee joint also causes knee injury. The damage to ligaments, cartilage or injuries to soft tissue are some of the musculoskeletal injuries.
The knee appears swollen after an injury to the ligaments, tendons or meniscus. An injury to the knee results in the swelling over the knee joint or the surrounding tissue because of fluid or blood accumulation.
Immediately, after a knee injury, apply ice or frosted pea cold pack to the injured area. The process shouldn’t be carried out more than 15-20 minutes. You can apply this pack three times a day. This not only reduces pain and swelling, but also reduces internal bleeding.The use of Ice or any other cold pack slows blood flow to that area, thus reducing the amount of swelling around the injured area. Try to give a rest to your knee. Wrap your knee with an elastic wrap and elevate the knee as much as possible by using a pillow.

Turmeric is a natural painkiller.Add a teaspoon of turmeric powder in a warm glass of milk and before going to bed drink this to prevent internal infections and inflammation. Heat up some Flax seed oil. Slice an onion thinly and fry it in the hot oil till they turn crunchy. Remove the oil from the heat and mix two tablespoons of Turmeric powder into it.Using a cotton swab, apply a small amount of warm oil on the injured knee. For internal injuries, sprain or fracture, dip a cotton pad in the oil, cover the affected area and leave it overnight.
To avoid knee pain during the night, make a paste of wheat flour, Castor oil, Turmeric powder and Goat milk. Apply this thick consistent paste on the affected area and wrap it with a clean cotton cloth.Wash off with warm water in the morning. Continue this treatment for 2-3 nights to get relief from the pain. This mixture acts as a good anti-inflammatory and reduces swelling. Castor oil being a natural painkiller reduces the pain.

Fenugreek seed application on the injured knee is the best natural remedy in healing an injured knee.Crush a handful of Fenugreek seeds and make a paste of it by adding two or three teaspoons of water. Keep it for one hour and rinse it with warm water. Repeat this process until the swelling comes down and knee injury is healed.
