Natural Treatments For Ocular Rosacea

Ocular rosacea is also referred to as ‘’Eye Rosacea’’. Factors like stress, sun exposure, consumption of alcohol, spicy and hot food items and intake of blood pressure medications may aggravate this problem.

Symptoms of this disorder include red, dry, swollen and itchy eyes and eyelids, blurred vision, sensitivity to light, grittiness and sties. The use of different natural treatments can relieve the symptoms associated with this medical condition.


Natural Treatments for Ocular Rosacea

Ginger

Consumption of tea prepared with the use of ginger root on a frequent basis can reduce the inflammation associated with the problem.

 Dry ginger powder or ginger juice can also be used in the treatment. This treatment is not recommended for individuals taking blood thinning medicines.


Turmeric

The anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric can treat the symptoms of the problem. A cup of water containing turmeric powder can be consumed on a daily basis to get the desired results.

Another option is to consume food items prepared with the use of turmeric.


Eyebright

A natural eye wash created by mixing a few drops of eyebright extract with warm water can be used to wash the eyes several times in a day to relieve the problem. Application of this solution with the use of cotton balls for 10 to 15 minutes can reduce the itching, redness, irritation and swelling.


Water

Water is one of the most effective natural treatments for ocular rosacea. Intake of 8 to 10 glasses of water on a daily basis can help in increasing the moisture in the eyes.

 It can also promote the regeneration of eye cells and deal with the symptoms of the problem. The eyes should be rinsed with water multiple times in a day to get the desired results.


Cucumber

Cucumber is also known as ‘’Cucumis Sativus’’. It is advisable to place fresh cucumber slices on the eyes for 5 to 10 minutes to treat the irritation, dryness, swelling and inflammation.

The problem can also be treated with the application of cucumber juice on the eyes. Another option is to drink cucumber juice on a frequent basis.


Flaxseed Oil

Application of flaxseed oil diluted with water can alleviate the symptoms of the problem within a short span of time. Consumption of food items prepared with flaxseed oil can also provide relief.


Castor Oil

Castor oil can be applied on the eyes to relieve the medical condition. A combination of castor oil and sorrel juice can also be used in the treatment.


Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is anti-inflammatory in nature. Intake of aloe vera juice (half cup) can relieve the problem.

Cotton balls soaked in a natural solution created by mixing aloe vera juice with water can be placed on the eyes to soothe the itching and inflammation. Aloe vera gel can also be applied on the eyes.


Green Tea

A cup of green tea can be consumed several times in a day to reduce the problem.

The extract obtained from wet green tea bags can also be applied on the eyes with the help of a cotton swab to obtain relief.
