7 Treatments For Perioral Dermatitis

The problem of perioral dermatitis is also termed as ‘’Periorificial Dermatitis’’. The use of a face cream containing steroids or toothpaste containing fluoride may lead to this common skin disorder.

Tiny red bumps may appear around the mouth and other parts of the face as a result of this problem. Fluid secretion, itching, swelling, burning sensation, rashes, scaling and peeling are some symptoms associated with this medical condition. The use of various natural treatments can cure this problem.

Natural Treatments for Perioral Dermatitis

Virgin Coconut Oil

Virgin coconut oil is one of the most effective natural treatments for the problem. It can be applied on the affected parts of the face with the help of a cotton ball several times in a day to cure various symptoms associated with the skin condition. Consumption of food items prepared with the use of coconut oil can also help in the treatment.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Organic apple cider vinegar can be diluted with water and applied on the affected area on a frequent basis to reduce the bumps.

Intake of a mixture prepared with the use of apple cider vinegar, honey and water can also provide relief.

Banana

A natural paste prepared by mixing mashed banana, cinnamon powder, crushed flaxseeds and honey can be directly applied on the bumps for a few minutes on a daily basis to relieve the problem. Another alternative is to apply a mixture created by blending banana, diced pineapple pieces, yogurt and water on the affected area several times in a week.

Neem

Neem is scientifically known as ‘’Azadirachta Indica’’. The therapeutic properties of neem can treat various skin problems including perioral dermatitis. Crushed neem leaves can be blended and mixed with rose water to prepare a paste. This paste can be applied on the face for 15 to 20 minutes on a regular basis to get the desired results.

Neem leaves can be boiled in water to create a natural solution. This solution can be used to wash the face on a frequent basis to relieve the symptoms. Application of organic neem oil can also help in the treatment.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera gel can be mixed with cocoa butter/manuka honey and applied on the rashes to cure the redness, burning sensation, scaling and peeling.

Frequent application of a mixture of aloe vera juice and lavender oil can also provide effective results. Intake of aloe vera juice can also help in healing the bumps.

Turmeric

Turmeric is anti-inflammatory in nature. Application of a paste made by mixing turmeric powder with yogurt can reduce the inflammation, itching, swelling and redness associated with the skin condition.

Turmeric powder can be mixed with tomato juice and applied on the face to soothe the rashes.

Emu Oil

Emu oil is one of the most effective natural treatments for the problem. It is rich in omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids. These compounds can help in the treatment of symptoms caused by the skin disorder. Application of emu oil multiple times on a weekly basis can repair the damaged skin cells.
