Eczema in children is a skin problem in which the skin gets affected from chronic irritation. It occurs usually in the first six months of life or can occur in first five years of life. Though occurring in infancy period, it may last up to childhood or adult hood as well.
Eczema in children can be mild or severe depending upon the case. Severe eczema is also known as atopic dermatitis. It is found to be common among those patients who have family history of asthma, eczema or hay fever.

Bleach bath is beneficial for the children suffering from eczema. To prepare the bath, take one fourth cup of bleach and add it in bath tub filled half with water. For the babies, take one to two teaspoons of bleach and add them in one gallon of water contained in a bath tub.
Using this bleach bath would help in eliminating the bacteria responsible for causing eczema in children. Continue using these bleach baths few times on a weekly basis.
Coconut butter is helpful for the treatment of eczema in children. Coconut butter lotion can be applied over the affected area. This remedy would help in soothing the affected skin. This method is helpful in moisturizing the skin without clogging the pores.
Castor oil is effective in treating the symptoms associated with eczema in children. It can be mixed with the extract prepared from calendula herb. Massaging feet and hands with this oil mixture would be helpful for the affected infants. After applying the oil mixture, hands and feet can be wrapped in plastic bags to keep them soft.
Calamine lotion is useful in the treatment of eczema in children. This remedy is helpful in providing relief from itchiness associated with eczema. A thin layer of this calamine lotion can be applied over the affected area to prevent sealing of the pores. Continue applying this remedy two to three times on a daily basis is recommended.
Essential fatty acids are helpful for the treatment of eczema in children. These fatty acids are present in omega 3 fatty acids which are beneficial for the infants suffering from eczema. The fatty acids can be taken in the form of supplements.
Moisturizer is good for the skin of children affected with eczema. It can be applied immediately after taking bath. A thick layer of moisturizer can be applied over the affected skin at least two times on a daily basis.
Cream and ointment are two types of moisturizers that can be used for treating the affected skin. These ointments and creams help in preventing the moisture on the skin. Moisturizing the skin just three minutes after taking bath would be helpful for the affected skin.
Breast milk is beneficial for the treatment of eczema in children. It has been considered to be effective in preventing eczema in infants. One should always breast feed the baby as far as possible.
The critical antibodies contained in the breast milk are passed to the child that helps him or her to develop immune system. This building up of immunity is effective in protecting the child against infection caused due to bacteria.
Cold compress is useful in the treatment of eczema in children. Take a clean piece of cloth and dip it in cool water. Application of this cloth over the rashes for around ten to fifteen minutes after every hour would be beneficial.
Wet compresses can be used if blisters are present. Wetting actually dries up the rashes on the skin. Whole-milk compress can also be used because it contains protein which helps in providing relief from itchiness associated with eczema.
Oatmeal bath is helpful for the patients suffering from eczema in children. Add oatmeal in the bath water which can be used for providing soothing effects to the patients.
Baking soda is also useful in treating eczema in the infants. Take one cup of baking soda and add it in warm water. This bath would provide a soothing effect to the affected infants.
Almond oil is beneficial in the treatment of eczema in children. Rubbing the oil over the affected area before taking shower would be helpful for the patients.
Water flow during bath would remove the excess oil over the body and hence one need not to touch it. It also helps in keeping the body moisturized. Afterwards, one should dry up the body without rubbing the oil away.
Vaseline is useful in the treatment of eczema in children. It can be rubbed over the affected areas. Continue applying Vaseline over the affected area for continuous two days. This remedy would help in removing dryness from the skin.
Similarly, one can also try alligator oil, crocodile oil or aquaphor over the affected areas. Petroleum jelly can also be used for treating the symptoms associated with eczema in children.
Virgin coconut oil is helpful for the patients suffering from eczema. Consumption of this virgin coconut oil is beneficial. It contains fatty acids that are useful for the patients. This remedy helps in drying up the skin affected with eczema.
Lauric acid contained in the oil has beneficial properties helpful for fighting against virus and bacteria. Virgin coconut oil helps in providing the required fats as well as nourishment for improving the affected skin.
