Fibroids are tumours that are non-cancerous and are developed in the uterus. These fibroids are very common in females, usually by the age of fifty and rare for women at the age of below twenty. Common symptoms of fibroids include menstrual bleeding, longer menstrual periods and pain during periods etc.Though the cause of fibroids is not yet clear but it is considered that it has some association with estrogen hormone. The fibroids grow more during the menstruation period. These are very small in size and have the tendency to grow in large numbers. These are present at various parts of uterus like muscle wall, under the surface lining and outside uterus covering etc.

Being overweight can also be the reason of fibroids and in this case, it becomes very difficult to cure them. Diagnosis of fibroids can be confirmed by various methods viz. ultrasound, pelvic MRI etc.Severe cases of fibroids include anaemia, heaviness in lower belly, urinary tract infection, heavy bleeding, cancerous changes etc.

The treatment of fibroids can be done by many methods viz. birth control pills, intrauterine devices, iron supplements, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and short term hormonal therapy injections. A number of surgeries are available for treating fibroids. Apart from all these methods, there are a number of herbs that can be used for the treatment of fibroids.


Top Herbal Remedies For Fibroids

Goldenseal

Goldenseal is a very beneficial medicinal herb that is very useful for the treatment of fibroids as it has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.Root of this herb has medicinal properties and can be used for treating a number of diseases. It is useful for reducing inflammation and pain caused due to fibroids. It helps in improving damaged tissue and heals reproductive system. It supports the immune system well by strengthening it.


Blue Cohosh

It has the ability to strengthen the contraction of uterus and is mostly used during menstrual cramps. It helps in preventing excessive bleeding and in regulating menstrual cycle. Two capsules of this herb can be consumed two times in a month. Reduce the dose to half if it helps in the treatment of fibroids. Black cohosh is also helpful for fibroids treatment but pregnant women should avoid its usage. It is also effective for curing constipation and stomach ailments.


Ginger

Root of this medicinal herb is helpful for increasing blood circulation and reducing inflammation in uterus and ovaries. It has healing properties and can be used to treat uterine fibroid, nausea and heartburn. Chamomile tea can be used with ginger that is beneficial for fibroid treatment. Ginger tea can be consumed at least one time in a day. Ginger oil can be used as an ointment at least two times in a day.


Peony

Root of this herb is used in reducing pain and inflammation. It also increases progesterone levels and helps in balancing estrogen.  It is useful for lowering testosterone as well. It can be blended with other medicinal herbs and is good for painful menstruation. It can be consumed in the form of tea or the root can be used for making alcohol extraction called tincture. Three to six grams of dried root can be used for preparing decoction in three cups of water. It can be consumed as one to three times per day. Three to five milliliters of liquid extract can be taken as one to two times in a day.

Jamaican Dogwood

This herb acts as an analgesic and helps in reducing pain in the muscles that may become severe as the fibroids grow. It can also be used in combination with cramp bark. It also relieves from muscle cramp and tension. It also reduces headache and inflammation. It reduces labour pain and painful menstruation. It can also be consumed in the form of tincture.


Cramp Bark

This herb is very effective in the treatment of fibroids as it reduces pain and inflammation in the muscles of the uterus. It reduces the size of fibroids. A good remedy for curing cramp bark is to mix one teaspoon of burdock root, motherwort leaves, cramp bark and wild yam rhizome. Add half teaspoon of cleavers leaves, prickly ash bark, ginger rhizome and mullein leaves in the previous mixture. Add all the mixture in one quart of water and boil. Wait for twenty minutes and strain it. Drink at least two cups of this mixture in one day. It can also be consumed in the form of tincture or pill.


Rehmannia

It is used in reducing excessive bleeding and has been found to be a very effective herb for reducing muscular pain and inflammation. Take this herb in tincture form and consume it as four to twelve millilitres on daily basis. It is also used to regulate menstrual cycle and reduce inflammation.


Chasteberry

It is also known as vitex. This herb can be consumed in the form of tincture and is very effective in reducing estrogen levels. It is helpful in balancing the hormones and in reducing inflammation. It can be consumed as twenty five to thirty drops as four times per day. It reduces the production of estrogen in excessive amount. It is a very good herbal remedy that helps in balancing the hormones and reducing inflammation. Two thousand to three thousand milligrams of chasteberry in the form of capsules can be consumed in a day.


Castor Oil

A pack of castor oil can be applied over the infected area that reduces pain and inflammation. It should be used every day for effective use. It has anti-inflammatory properties and is useful in reducing the size of fabroids.


Apple Cider Vinegar

It is useful for the treatment of fibroids as it dissolves them. One can take one glass of apple cider vinegar per day for effective use.


Red Raspberry

Having astringent properties, it is used for preventing excessive menstrual bleeding and miscarriages during pregnancy. It contains all the vitamins and minerals that are helpful in the treatment of fibroids. One to two cups of this herb can be consumed in a day. One should consume this herb under the supervision of an experienced health practitioner in case of pregnancy.
